  1. I'd announced this last year (http://community.extra-life.org/forums/topic/2755-donation-tracker-for-linux-streamers/), but realized that it should work just fine with Mac and Windows as it does with Linux. A few days ago I got my first feature request on github: https://github.com/djotaku/ELDonationTracker (Aw! I've got big-boy project now!) Planed for this year: I'll be closing out that issue by adding in Team support. Fixing the formatting so that money has 2 decimal places instead of just one. I'll be switching to functional programming (vs the current script-like) to prepare for a GUI I don't know if I'll get to a GUI this year, but I'm willing to merge code to do so. Why a GUI? I'd like to model it after @bfinleyui's utility where he has a main window that shows what's in the text files so that you don't need to open them all up to do a sanity check that it's pulling the correct data. He also has a second window he can spawn that's all black (for chroma key) that will update with a "DONATION Person's name - AMOUNT" that can be used in OBS or XSplit to let people know there are donations as they come in.He also allows you to use a JPEG or PNG along with it a la SteamAlerts. If I make a GUI it'll most likely be QTQuick for Linux as I have experience with that. I know both QT and GTK+ can also work on Windows, but if someone wanted to write a native WIndows client, that would work as well. It'd be nice if it worked with Python bindings so that the user doesn't have to compile anything to use the GUI. I know I can do that in Linux. Not sure about Windows. Anything else you'd like to see? Feel free to file issues. Able to code GUIs? Feel free to join the project!
  2. Wanted to inquire on if anyone has received their xsplit license for the 2017 year yet? I first checked forum posts and did not see this touched on for the 2017 year, I also checked my email thinking maybe it was sent to me already early this year but I have nothing.
  3. If you've decided to start streaming for Extra Life and are using XSplit, then you might want a little help adding some Extra Life flair to your broadcast. By adding an Extra Life overlay and Donation alert, you can further engage your viewers in donating and becoming aware of why we play games #ForTheKids! First, get familiar with using XSplit! If you haven't used this broadcasting application, you should download it and then take a look at their Getting Starting guide. (https://www.xsplit.com/broadcaster/getting-started-guide/) Once you download and log into your XSplit software and complete the "Getting Started" guide, you will want to add an overlay to one of you scenes. The overlay is a great way to tell people that you are playing for Extra Life! You can download the items from Broadcaster Kit and Media Kit at https://www.extra-life.org/mediakit. Add an overlay to your XSplit broadcast software Now that you have your overlays, find the "Scene" you want to add your Extra Life overlay to and select "Add" at the bottom of the application > Media File > search for and open the recently downloaded overlay for Extra Life > click a corner to resize/reposition if necessary. Add the Extra Life Alert extension to your XSplit broadcast software To add the Extra Life alert, go to "Extensions" (top menu) > "Get more extensions" > select "Show Sources" icon (to the left of the "plug" icon) > find and select the "Extra Life Alert" > "Install" > close the plugin windows and go back to your main broadcasting screen. Now find the 'Scene" you want to add the alert box to > click "Add" > "Widgets" > "Extra Life Alerts". Click, drag and resize/reposition the alert box as you see fit > right click on the "Extra Life Alert" box > select the 'Extra Life Alert" tab on the next window > input your "Participant" or "Team" id (you can find this by going to your Extra Life participant page and grabbing the number at the end of the URL after the "=" ) > select and alert sound > check "Show Donation Alert" if you want the box to display a recent donation as if occurs > "Test Alert" to see it in action! Now your stream viewers can see your Extra Life pride, your current donation total and hear/see alerts when donations are made! Have a favorite overlay, alert or widget you use for streaming for Extra Life? Let us know in the comments below!

  8. The first email we got said if we already had twitch turbo we could give it to a donor. If we want to use the new 3 months of Xsplit in the same way, can we?
  9. Hey all, Brian Finley has created an amazing donation tracker for Windows and Mac users. Unfortunately, Adobe Air is discontinued on Linux. So I have replicated his work and it's here https://github.com/djotaku/ELDonationTracker . Well, replicated is a strong word in that, as of the time I'm posting this, I've only created the outputs I use and I haven't created the donation alert yet as that requires a GUI. And, crucially, I didn't yet create the loop that checks every 30 seconds or so. That'll be the first thing I add - probably tomorrow. Anyway, feel free to use it and to participate in my git repo! (It'd be neat to have contributions!) Although I didn't do it for total Raised and goal - for anything else you or I add - let's use the same filenames as Brian Finley did in his so that they could be compatible if you have an OBS MP scene collection you use on both Windows/Mac and Linux. ENJOY!
