  1. Video game Twitter can be a strange place. Twitch streamer S1N3N started it all two days ago when he asked the social media accounts for Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft which game he should purchase. S1N3N streams to a fanbase of about 630 people and can be found streaming games during the late night hours. Fairly innocuous tweet, right? Little did S1N3N know the cosmic forces he had just prodded to life. Sometimes when you shout into the void of cyberspace, cyberspace shouts back at you. You see, someone on the World of Warcraft account heard S1N3N's plea for help and offered the fairly obvious answer that in WOW some players can shoot lasers from their eyes. However, WOW made a classic Twitter blunder: Never retain the @ of your mortal enemy. World of Warcraft's tweet roused the interest of Final Fantasy XIV's social media. They saw laser eyes and immediately went for the one-up. Of course, building-sized meteors of death only made World of Warcraft cackle with malignant malice as they released AN EVEN BIGGER METEOR! However, Final Fantasy was having none of it. They granted that the meteor was indeed larger, but then referred WoW to their moon, which imprisoned the elder primal dragon known as Bahamut, and proceeded to lay some smack talk on Warcraft's mascot dragon Deathwing. Of course, World of Warcraft was loath to be outdone. They threw down the gauntlet of ruin, revealing how much destruction and power was housed in their universe. Moons and meteors? What about entire planets obliterated? As of right now, this is the final tweet in the WoW vs. Final Fantasy Twitter war, but something tells me this might not be the last shot fired.... Oh, and Overwatch kicked back to relax and enjoy the spectacle along with the rest of us.

    World of Warcraft: Legion

Hey folks, Anyone playing Legion when it hits? I'm planning on doing a minimum 24 hour stream when it hits and it would be nice to have even more company.

World of Warcraft - EL Raiders

Hey folks! I was wondering if anyone that plays WoW would be interested in forming an Extra Life guild with me for the purpose of running raids or PVP on twitch/youtube/etc? I've lots of experience with PVE, but... not so much with PVP. I've recently found the game to be pretty boring without a guild, so I figured why not make something with other awesome ELers? If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, toss me a message on bnet: Gnomedic#1291. This would be for the Alliance side, someone else can form a Horde guild, but all my toons are Ally This would be casual, maybe one or two nights a week, non-mandatory, and we can pick a server, or just have an unofficial guild. Faction: Alliance Server: Zangarmarsh or Darkspear (or TBD!) Type: PVE/PVP
  5. The latest issue of the film industry magazine Empire holds the first image from the set of the film adaptation of Blizzard's iconic MMO. Scanned by Dark Horizons, the image appears to show director Duncan Jones watching his cast and crew during a filming session. Gamespot gathered some of their creative noggins together and came to the conclusion that the scene being filmed is set in the Stormwind Throne room. Details on the film are scarce, but it is reported to have a plot centered around a conflict between orcs and humans and that industry special effects giant Industrial Light and Magic has been contracted. The film was originally slated for December 18, 2015, but was bumped back a year after the announcement that Star Wars: Episode VII was releasing the same day. Currently the World of Warcraft film is looking at a march 2016 release. View full article

  7. Jason Hayes, World of Warcraft's composer, leads a band called the Critical Hit, while the composer for the Final Fantasy series, Nobuo Uematsu, is a member of The Earthbound Papas. Both bands will be headlining the Orlando Nerd Fest 2014. The Critical Hit formed in 2013 and have been playing live shows for the past year. Today they unveiled their latest music video in which they give their own rendition of the classic Tetris theme. They also have videos showcasing their skills with the theme from Angry Birds and The Battle for New York from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Nobuo Uematsu's group, The Earthbound Papas, was formed shortly after his previous band, The Black Mages, disbanded in 2010. Their music tends to be refreshing takes on Final Fantasy soundtracks, though it was reported that The Earthbound Papas might be open to performing music from other video game series or original music. Orlando Nerd Fest will be held on August 9 in Orlando, Florida.

  9. Trailers for Blizzard's upcoming MOBA Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls have appeared online and beg for you to look at them with your face. Tell me if you have heard this one before: An angel, a space marine, and an assassin walk into a desert and run into a lich king, an alien, and the devil... then they fight! While that might not make a very funny joke, it does make a pretty flippin' awesome trailer, especially when it is made by Blizzard, who have pretty much cornered the market on flippin' awesome cinematics. I'm pretty hopeful that Heroes of the Storm will turn out well. With great examples of how to develop and run successful MOBA titles in League of Legends and Dota 2 and Blizzard's tendency to support titles for long periods of time, I can't really see how they could botch an attempt to create a successful MOBA. Time, of course, will be the judge, but I have faith that Blizzard can deliver. BlizzCon was also a perfect time to announce a new World of Warcraft expansion that uses time travel to revisit ground covered in the original Warcraft titles, as well as implementing a slew of new features. Warlords of Draenor will overhaul the character models, up the level cap to 100, provide new PvP zones, add new monsters, dungeons, and raids, and the ability to boost to level 90 immediately to play late game content right off the bat. Will this be enough to bring back people who have strayed from the Warcraft fold? Finally a gameplay trailer was shown regarding the Diablo III expansion Reaper of Souls. The new add-on will include an adventure mode that unlocks all waypoints, dramatically opening up the world for players to begin playing and go fight anything, anywhere. Two other additions are made to the adventure mode: Bounties and Nephalem Rifts. Bounties are basically random hits on powerful monsters that can be used to get more gold and experience, while rifts are portals to dungeons that contain rare and valuable loot. In addition to the adventure mode teaser, there was also snippets of gameplay shown from the PS4 version of Diablo III. What do you think? Excited? Itching to try World of Warcraft or return to it? Ready for a new MOBA or more Diablo III? Let us know what you think! View full article
