  1. Earlier this year, hundreds of people made their way to Florida to experience Extra Life United and meet a few of the amazing children that Extra Life works to help every day of the year. One of the people in attendance this year was Wade Barnes, who participated in a panel on charity streaming while there. The experience he had at that event has left him motivated to incorporate Extra Life into his life - and into the lives of his nearly 1.6 million fans on YouTube. Barnes, better known by hundreds of the thousands of his fans as LordMinion777, wants to do good in the world. "Every kid deserves to be fought for by as many people as they can get," he said to Extra Life. "If we can chip in just by doing a stream here or talking to somebody there to raise a little bit of money to help a kid have a better quality of life, then it's worth it. It's not a big ask on our part." This weekend, Barnes will stream for 8-10 hours beginning on Saturday, September 21st at 2pm EST. The stream will feature a variety of fun audience participation events and donation incentives. LordMinion777 at one point floated the idea of makeup challenges and a period of time set aside for games involving the audience. The current games being considered for the stream include: Days Gone, Uno, Tabletop Simulator (featuring a variety of digital board games), and more. The goal for the stream has been set at a whopping $10,000 USD for Cincinnati Children's Hospital. To give his fans the motivation needed to hit that goal, Barnes has said that he will be willing to bring back his popular Dead by Daylight stream for a limited time. He might even do it on the stream tomorrow if he and his community are able to reach the goal in time. Another special feature of the stream will be playing a modded version of Minecraft called Pixelmon with the audience. Fans interested in playing alongside LordMinion777 can do so by downloading base Minecraft as well as a modding platform called Technic Launcher. Through Technic Launcher, players will need to download a mod called Pixelmon Generations and then join the Pokeninja server and select the Heart Region. Barnes hinted that he might be giving out special keys that unlock unique and otherwise unobtainable Pixelmon in the game. This will be the first stream Barnes has done to support Extra Life, so please show up and give him support throughout his marathon! Be sure to check out his stream on Twitch and, if you can, help him meet his goal of raising $10,000 USD For The Kids. Don't forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!

  6. So I put together a quick stinger (transition animation between scenes) for the upcoming Extra Life day and thought I might as well share it with everyone. I use a transition time at frame 42 or around 700ms but you can adjust according to your preference. I've put the link below to download it so you can use it on your own live stream. If you use it and want to show your appreciation just drop a few dollars onto my EL page: extra-life.org/participant/lsg Enjoy! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B39NaTEjuYGSb28zVUdDOUwxajQ/view?usp=sharing
  7. Hey gamers, My son and I have started sharing our gaming experiences on YouTube in June 2016 and I have been using this as a way to provide family-friendly entertainment and to "gamify" important life lessons such as proper planning, internet etiquette, overcoming adversity, building confidence, etc. and so far, it's been an amazing adventure! The week after Christmas after a recording session, he came to me and said that he asked if we could give the money that we are making from the platform to the community, more specifically to help children that are fighting for their lives. What really touched me from his behavior was that for a 7-year old, thinking of giving back instead of asking for a new video game or something that he may be able to play with was incredible! Since he asked and one of our core family values is the importance of helping our peers by giving back, I have looked into what we could plan together for children. And I have found Extra-Life.org. After researching, looking at the videos that explained the history behind this beautiful movement and community, I knew that this was the one that we were going to do it for. More importantly, the ability to help a local foundation made it even more special! We have been planning this event for a few weeks now and I have found myself feeling so rewarded for the amount of time that I have put through promoting the event, getting some game development studios sponsor us with some game keys to giveaway, making graphics for shirts and even wrist bands, spreading the word to get people from all over the world to watch and encourage us... this is a calling that's been dormant within me that I'm excited to begin and repeat throughout the year. Enough blabbering, on to the important stuff. We are doing this even on January 27th. We are starting at 6pm EST and we are going for the full 24-hours. Of course, the little one won't be there for the entire duration but there will be scheduled events where he will be joining me for some good fun. If any of you are interested in joining us by watching, here are the details; Youtube: https://goo.gl/70K0IE Twitch: https://goo.gl/ioRfId Beam: https://goo.gl/vN6qnf If YOU want to come and watch or simply want to extend the reach by sharing this post, it would be tremendously appreciated. The more people we can have, the more donations that we can get for this amazing cause, the better! If you want to support our effort, you can also check out our donation page and/or our event wrist bands! They are $5 (USD) each and $2 from each sale will be donated to the charity. Donation page: https://goo.gl/TayDSl Event Wrist bands: https://goo.gl/U4XeB6 Although we have streamed in the past and we are very comfortable with the technical "behind the scenes" stuff, if you have any best practices from your previous experiences, please share them, we'd like to know! Hoping to be able to make a difference! K.
  8. Hi all, I found this community forum recently, I'm playing in support of Boston Children Hospital. 10. I run a Community channel on Twitch and we are planning our first 48HR Marathon for this year and trying to find a unique look for an overlay and would like to add-in some modules or extra things to spruce up the overlay. I saw some streamers last year using some cool features and they mentioned a site they used Codepen and that it was pretty simple but I have been on their site and do not see anything in relation to what they used. I would be happy to commission and pay someone for an overlay for our Team and if anyone here has ideas of things to use on the stream that helps make things look slick and professional I am all about it. I have placed below the example of what I am looking at and hopefully, someone can share some feedback on things. I appreciate the help in advance! I have attached a clip from their live event last year and would love to personally have some of these things on my channel. I really like the design, animations below cam and below the game box plus the timer showing how long the Marathon was happening. Can anyone help or give advice? https://clips.twitch.tv/CautiousGracefulAmazonCoolStoryBro
  11. Hey again! (I'm taking over these forums...) We talked about creating a DnD group and streaming it out in efforts to raise some money for the kids. If you would like to be apart of it, or have anything to contribute, let me know and we'd appreciate any assistance! Thanks
  12. I've been asked to post my 4:3 gaming layout here, for others who might play retro games (or games in small windows) to have an overlay that fits their game! As leader of Team 4:3 (that I'd like to start expanding and promoting soon), I probably shoulda done this already. BUT HERE IT IS NOW! There isn't any official overlay for 4:3 resolutions (nevermind Game Boy games that are 10:9. 10:9!), so I took one of the overlays with no camera box, just the 16:9 panel cut out, and simply copy and pasted the thing blue border around the overlay as needed to create my own inlay panels. The way I use this particular set-up is: Top-Left: I cut and resized the CMN Infographic and use the scrolling image feature in OBS to rotate through CMN facts here. (Alternative: Put your team, hospital, personal logo, game title, donation tracker or goal progress here!) Middle-Left: I do a lot of speedrunning, so my timer and splits are usually here. The chat log can also go here. It's a big panel to have room for splits, which not everyone needs, but it's hard to get rid of the white space here for reasons I'll outline below. Bottom-Left: The camera. Note that the way the layout is now, this block is neither 4:3 nor 16:9, but my face doesn't take up the whole camera so I crop the camera feed to fit. It could certainly be adjusted to fit 4:3 or 16:9, though! Right: Play area I would be willing to rearrange the lines if someone wanted a different set-up but doesn't have the know-how or the software to do it themselves. What isn't as easy to do is to 'explode' the pieces out so they aren't side-by-side. I might have another go and modifying one of the 'minimalist' layouts, but the background with the controllers and dice on it it very hard to manipulate since any ugly copy-pasting to repeat the background will be much more noticable and I don't have the Photoshop chops to work around that. I'm working in Fireworks and that's a dead program. What I really need is a layout with the 'header' and 'footer' but no other panels cut out -- then you could customize it however ya want and still make it match the color scheme. There's an upload limit, but if I find a good place to upload the original Fireworks file that would have layers and modifiable outlines, I'll post that too.
  13. Hello everyone, Does anyone have a recommendation of some PC games that are rated Everyone-Teen that can be fun to stream and for the viewers? I'm thinking of Cook, Serve, Delicious or Stardew Valley. But any other recommendation will help. Thanks, Drexnot
  14. I made a video to help everyone set up their Extra Life stream using some of the assets available for download from the Extra Life community site, StreamPro, and from @bread_man. Hope it helps some and hope everyone has a great game day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM4g1UTWtDk&feature=youtu.be
  15. Hey all! I have a Halloween stream scheduled for this Saturday at 1pm ET. It's my first stream after taking almost a year off, so I'll probably need some pitty views if you want to stop by Heck, if anything we can just chat about Game Day plans and swap ideas (I can't believe it's so close!) I'll be playing the Outlast 2 demo and Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location - maybe some DOOM if I have time. Twitch Channel See you there!

We are a competitive esports team that is looking to help people and help out in the community! We will be streaming a variety of games such as Titan Fall 2 and Skyrim remastered! We hope to see a lot of people there not only watching but helping spread the word and donating to our page so we can reach our goal of $1000! All of these donations go towards Samaritan Medical Center! You can look at our channel here: https://www.twitch.tv/malicious6_ Hope to see you there!
  17. Does anyone have Superfight and plan on (or is interested in) streaming it on Game Day? I got a code in Loot Crate and figured it would be a great game to get a group of Extra Lifers together and have all of us stream it. Here's a link to a game play video on Steam if you don't know what the game is: http://store.steampowered.com/app/404770/ If we can't get at least 4 people to play it then I'll just use it as a donation incentive give away, so no worries! Let me know if you're interested in playing for an hour or two during your marathon!
  18. Hello. This is my first year doing Extra Life. I signed up as a team and will have some people joining me. My question is when you have a team is the 24 hours of streaming as a collective time for all the team or does everyone have to do 24 hours individually?

  20. Does anyone know what timer this is and how it works? It was used by KindaFunny Games last year. I would love to have something like this on our Marathon coming up and would appreciate the insight and help. This shows an active counter showing how many hours online and donations received. I appreciate the help. See the VOD link below to see it in action. VOD Link: https://www.twitch.tv/kindafunnygames/v/26632415
  21. Hello, Our community is having its first marathon for Extra Life and the Kentucky Children's Hospital on 10-21 and 10-22 for 25 hours. We are wanting to reach out about a few things. #1: Are there new graphics and materials for 2016 or is everything the same from last year? #2: Is there a donation tracker where would could have on during our marathon just what we are raising instead of having our end goal? We use the built-in widget now through StreamPro. #3; Is there any kind of countdown timer to Extra Life to bring in Hype for the marathon we are having? I would appreciate the help and feedback on all the questions we have!

Ok everyone this is it!!! Time for our yearly 24 hour game stream! We will be hosting the event at Monroe Carrol Jr Children's Hospital, at Vanderbilt. The event will take place in the Waddlington Board rooms (same place where we've been having our meetings, but we will remove the divider wall, to make more room) We will be live streaming, have multiple projectors set up to connect gaming systems. Those who plan on attending can bring their own Consoles/TVs/Board Games/Card Games, etc to the event. Great network to use for online.
