Folks, PAX East is quickly moving upon us. This event will be the placeholder for volunteer shifts. (updated as needed/subject to change) You may RSVP and post your preferred shift below. As of right now will have 6 Badges to rotate through volunteers. (3 for on shift volunteers/3 for off shift volunteers) What does that mean? 1) Everyone must be early for their shifts. (Enough time for a leader to come and get your badges to you.) 2) For the day that you are scheduled, the other half of the day, you may use the badge to enjoy the con. (But must be back in time for your shift) 3) Everyone must turn in their badge at the end of the day to @stodd.ELBoston More details coming as we have them. 3. Harmonix announced today that they've been working on Rock Band 4 and the project will be coming to both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 before 2016. From the Harmonix announcement: For years you have been unified in solidarity with one single demand: "Give us a new Rock Band!" Well, today, my friends, is your day. "Give us a new Rock Band!" Okay. You win. We’ll do it. "When will Rock Band return?" Oh I dunno, HOW ABOUT THIS YEAR? 2015! After five years of waiting, we're getting more Rock Band! The new release touts new mechanics, new guitars, and more. Unfortunately, we don't know much about those new things, just that they will be different than what we've seen before and make use of technology that would have been impossible to implement in Rock Band 3. We do know a few tasty pieces of information, though. Perhaps most importantly, customers who have purchased DLC for Rock Band will see that content carry over into Rock Band 4. Since the first Rock Band in 2007, there have been over 2000 songs adapted for Rock Band gameplay and Harmonix wants to do good by the people who have paid for that content. “Since the beginning, we’ve called Rock Band a music platform. Players responded by downloading hundreds of their favorite tracks, and building a massive library of playable music,” says Daniel Sussman, the production manager for Rock Band 4, “It’s important for us to respect those purchases and enable our fans to bring that content over to the Rock Band platform on new generation consoles.” However, bringing so many songs up to date takes work. Harmonix cautions that there may be delays in how quickly those legacy tracks carry over to Rock Band 4. Beyond the music, peripherals from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 should also work with Rock Band 4. It might be time to dust off that guitar and drum set! For those looking to land a brand-spankin'-new guitar, Harmonix has teamed up with Mad Catz to provide a line of Rock Band 4 instrument peripherals. Attendees of PAX East 2015 will be able to pre-order a limited edition Penny Arcade guitar controller at the Harmonix booth. Check out this behind-the-scenes video from the Harmonix team about Rock Band 4. They discuss the challenges they face, but you can really tell how excited they are to finally be able to talk about their game. For those about to rock, we salute you. Chances are Rock Band 4 will hit during the holiday season, so prepare your wallets and bank accounts for the onslaught. View full article
