There will also be an open beta beginning May 19. Who else is ready to throw down fisticuffs with the heroes and villains from across Blizzard's history? At launch, Heroes of the Storm will contain over thirty playable characters and seven different battlefields. Each battleground will be unique with different goals and challenges. Post-launch, players can expect to see more heroes and maps being added, along with a variety of skins and mounts. The open beta will follow the conclusion of the Heroes of the Dorm collegiate eSports tournament. Students from over 400 schools will be participating with hundreds of thousands of dollars in tuition on the line. The championship will be held on April 26 at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in LA. It will also be televised live in prime time on ESPN. More details should be available as the event approaches. Heroes of the Storm will be launching on June 2 for PC. Don't forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!

Ubisoft's free open beta for Ghost Recon: Wildlands has only recently begun and it will run until 6am PT on February 27. Players can download the beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC to jump into two of the game's sweeping opening areas. Solo and multiplayer co-op are supported throughout the beta, so players can go it alone or grab a couple of friends to explore the Bolivian provinces of Itacua and Montuyoc. Itacua will be the opening area of the full Ghost Recon game, while Montuyoc serves as the training area for the Santa Blanca cartel's recruits. "But," I can hear you saying, "what about the rewards for playing the open beta mentioned in the headline?" Anyone who participates in the open beta and then buys and plays the core Ghost Recon: Wildlands game before the end of March will unlock the Unidad Conspiracy. The conspiracy is a set of three missions that take place in the heart of Unidad territory, Media Luna. On top of that, Twitch Prime subscribers will be receiving some Wildlands gear in the War Within the Cartel item pack. This includes some in-game patches for equipment, a gun skin, and some nifty Santa Blanca threads for your Ghost. Ghost Recon: Wild Lands launches on March 7 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

marathon Mave's 30 Hours for 30 Years Marathon
Mave posted a calendar event in Extra Life Community Calendar
untilOver these last few years, I've discovered passions of mine and things that make happy, and one of those things is giving back, especially when it comes to children. That's why instead of partying hard to celebrate turning 30, I'll be in the spirit of giving. On Saturday, May 7th starting at 12:00pm Pacific, I'll be playing video games for 30 hours straight to raise money for Children's Hospital Los Angeles through Extra Life, streamed live on Twitch. Instead of having people spend some cash buying me a drink at a bar or something, I'll be asking them to donate to my Extra Life page and make a difference in the lives of the children who come to CHLA. I've got some special benchmarks I'll be announcing for the stream, including the #ShaveIt or #SaveIt contest (inspired by @Zyaldar's idea), where the donators will decide if I shave my hair off or keep my hair. Details to be announced. Of course, feel free to join me at any point during my stream. I'll be playing the Overwatch Open Beta on PC. Some important links: Twitch Page Extra Life Page See you guys and gals this Saturday! #chla #extralife #extralifela #ForTheKids-

A new arena brawler from Kiz Studios has made its way exclusively onto the PlayStation 4. Trans-Galactic Tournament, a 4v4 multiplayer arena title, brings free-to-play MOBA action to the PS4. Players can download the title over PSN and get into the game's current roster of ten champions. In-game, champions can take advantage of over one hundred power-ups across six different arenas and three game modes. These game modes are described like so: "Plunderball is Capture-the-Flag meets Thunderdome. Conquest is a many-headed hydra mutation of King-of-the-Hill, where the challenge isn’t capturing control points, it’s keeping them - and Annihilation (our version of Deathmatch), well, champions have fists for a reason." Unlike most of the popular MOBAs currently available, players don't level their characters while in-game. Instead, players customize their preferred champions outside the action and tailor them to their play style. Another feature that separates Trans-Galactic Tournament from the MOBA pack is the ability to jump over or through obstacles. You can even jump on top of enemies and use them as platforms to reach shortcuts. If you're worried about investing time in the beta only to have your progress in-game wiped away when the full game launches, Kiz Studios has your back. All progress made during the beta will carry over when Trans-Galactic Tournament launches later this summer. View full article
