  1. The Extra Life Guild based in Saskatchewan has pulled together an event this weekend called the Extra Life Saskatchewan Milestone Gaming Marathon. The event will welcome gamers from all walks of life to participate in raising money for Jim Pattison Children's Hospital, a facility that was able to open its doors earlier this year due to partners like Extra Life. Due to donations and fundraising events, Saskatchewan now has its first dedicated hospital for treating mothers and children. The marathon will be held this weekend at the Cosmopolitan Senior Citizens Centre in Saskatoon. It will begin on November 16 at 9am CST and close out strong on November 17 at 9am CST. The event welcomes every kind of gamer who would like to attend, though tickets will need to be purchased either through Eventbrite or at the door. Children 12 years and under will not need a ticket, but will need an adult to accompany them. Additionally, while the event allows all non-electronic games, there are considerations for power and space if attendees want to bring a console or PC. Please contact the Saskatchewan Guild via Facebook before bringing additional electronics to the event. Below are just a few of the events happening throughout the 24-hour gaming marathon: Board games Console games Trading Card Games with Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and more being featured prominently Tabletop RPGs run for all skill-levels by friendly local Game Masters Fighting Game tournaments for Super Smash Brothers, Tekken, and more Raffles, contests, and tournaments galore! Photos of Jim Pattison Children's Hospital were taken by Lisa Landrie – A Photogenic Life Even more is in store for those who attend. “We’re going to have a library of board games, virtual reality, some Jack Box games, 24 hours of D&D, and a local game shop and video game bar are sponsoring consoles and TVs,” explained Nolan, Extra Life Saskatchewan Guild's president. The Extra Life Saskatchewan Milestone Gaming Marathon has been organized by the Extra Life Saskatchewan Guild. As part of the event, the guild is asking all attendees to register to participate on extra-life.org prior to arriving or at the door. This year, the team is aiming to reach $20,000 USD. To register or donate to support their endeavor, please visit the team page. It's never too late to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games! Donations for 2019 are accepted year-round!

  3. Mindcrack has been one of the longest running organizations supporting Extra Life. Beginning in 2013, the team has raised almost $1 million USD for the kids through their combined efforts. This year, they are around $60,000 USD shy of their overall fundraising mission to surpass $1 million USD. Last year, the Mindcrack team managed to raise a little over $100,000 USD. They have set a goal this year of $200,000 USD and currently sit at $52,991 USD. The team feels very confident that their 48-hour Extra Life stream that begins on October 25 will be what tips the team into their bold new frontier of fundraising. All of your favorite Mindcrack streamers will be involved: Guude Aureylian Arkas Jsano KurtJMac SethBling Sevadus W92Baj OMGChad Mhykol Pakratt Pyro The Mindcrack stream will be sponsored by Marriott International, Asus, MadeGood, and MODX. Additionally, the stream will feature a variety of super-secret surprise guests on the stream for additional commentary. These guests will also appear in the Minecraft Ultra Hardcore matches that the Mindcrack team has been known for. The team behind Mindcrack has been so dedicated to fundraising for Extra Life that some of them have become Extra Life Ambassadors! We featured Aureylian as she geared up for a recent stream to raise money for Children’s Hospital of St. Louis. There’s also Guude, who plays for Duke Hospital in North Carolina. OMGChad raises money for Dallas’ Children’s Medical Center. Finally, Sevadus has been playing for Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Hawaii. The stream will begin on October 25 at 12pm CDT with a lengthy pre-show. The stream proper will begin that night at 6pm CDT. Beginning with building games and VR horror games, it will go into the wee hours of the morning with audience involvement activities like Twitch Sings, Jack Box, and more! Saturday the 26th will feature the first Minecraft Ultra Hardcore match strange games like Battleship Twister, and something called “Bob Ross Paint Human Canvas.” The 27th will bring another round of Minecraft Ultra Hardcore, poker, and a spicy challenge before wrapping up with a closing ceremony at 5pm CDT. Be sure to tune into all of the craziness on Twitch or the specially made Mindecrack Marathon website. You can join or support the Mindcrack fundraising efforts on their Extra Life team page. Don't forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!

  8. Every year since 2011, Sega-Addicts.com has done a Dreamcast Dreamless 24-Hour Marathon. From 2015 forward I have taken the reigns and hosted it from my home with staff members and friends joining. Most recently we learned about Extra Life and thought the Marathon was a great chance to raise some money! Collectively over the last two years we have raised over $1,500 for a local children's hospital! And now we are inviting all of you to join us on the internet to raise money for kids while enjoying Sega's last great console on 09/01/2018. This year, we are hosting from the Mega Visions Magazine Twitch page and more ready than ever to tackle some Dreamcast insanity to help the kids! You can check out last year's marathon on YouTube here. Stay tuned for the final schedule in the coming months! We also have a Reddit topic for game recommendations here! Now the die-hard Dreamcast fans will immediately notice we are not celebrating on the actual anniversary (09/09/99) of the console. We are celebrating on Labor Day weekend to allow easier travel for the out-of-towners. We hope you understand and decided to join the insanity on Twitch! Thanks for taking a look, folks. If you feel like helping out, you can print the flyer from the group page and share to all!

  12. The fine folks at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia want to hear your plans for National Game Day this year. I know, I know, I’ve already asked you this before, but what if I told you that they’re going to send you a special 24-Hour Marathon “Survival Kit” for telling us how you plan on spending your marathon. We'll be reading what you've got going on and sending out kits to the first 20 CHOP participants!
  13. Hello Everyone, So what's your plans for your marathon this year? Or are you splitting your time up among a few days? As for myself; since I first learned of Extra Life, it has always been a group activity. I get together with a bunch of folks and we play video games separately, or together, for as long as we can. Honestly, we rarely last the full 24, but hey, I'm gettin' up there in years at this point! Last year was the first time I didn't setup the retro wall I'd had in previous years, and I'm thinking it might be time for a comeback. it made for a neat little distraction for folks who may want a break from their chosen game and just chill out with the old school stuff for a while. Anywho, I'm interested to see what the rest of you folks are gettin' up to this year! Thanks, Chris "LonestarF1" Redden

  18. Hello everyone! I put it to vote and the community had me change my habits. On Dec. 24th and 25th, I'll be doing a switch up of my Christmas 24 hour show to standard, but long (10 or so hours) shows. These shows will be just as myself. On Dec. 30-31st, I'll be doing yet another marathon. This time for 31 hours. This is my last hurrah for the Extra-Life campaign for this year, and since I've missed out on doing shows like this, it's time to do a few. Planning details, show breakdown and other things will come later. Due to the length of the show, I will not be Pandish. It's just too much to maintain for that many hours. My current total for the year is $1337.00 (Isn't that awesome of my community?). New Year Charity-thon As usual, I will require additional moderators and other support. If you have anything you'd like to drop in for ideas for the day, I'd love it! This show will be mainly for the General Audience, and will not contain any questionable language from me. The games I pick for the days will be multi-player or audience based. Things to keep the show energized, and myself awake. If you can participate in the show as multi-player participant, throw a PM/shout at the channel Discord. More news to come as I update.
  19. I will be holding a 24-hour Extra-Life Marathon the weekend of November 11th, alongside Veterans' Day. This will be my Game day. The stream to start Friday the 11th at 4PM and go on to Saturday the 12th, 4PM. Scheduled breaks will occur (some unscheduled, depending on my own ability to stay hyper). Games on the menu are up in the air at this point, but I'm gathering them. I do need interactive chat members and temporary moderators. I will also have a drawing segment to commemorate the stream towards the last 4 hours. This stream will be kids friendly, with myself dressed up as Pandish, my mascot. The games will also be kid friendly so there is a needs list. If you can fulfill any of these roles and are available on Friday - Saturday, let me know. Moderators - Can be taken in shifts. Must monitor chats. Clear lines of text that may be offensive, provide warnings to the poster via PM, and if they continue, ban. Two chances, and you're out is the rule. No external links outside of what's programmed with the bot. I will talk about your local or online events related to Children's if you give me a heads up. 4 PM - 10 PM 10 PM - 4 AM 4 AM - 10 AM 10AM - 4 PM (Closing ceremonies may run longer) Casual Chatters and those who can keep the (twitch.tv/siddichan) channel open for the duration of the show. More -concurrent- viewers and chatters mean more exposure to the cause on Twitch search. Discord buddies - On and off, Discord events will start up where you can come in to chat. I did send an email to Jane and Alyssa at Children's about possible interviews. If you would like to be interviewed, throw me a PM via Discord and tell me the 5 W's. (Discord Link - feel free to join the community shenanigans) The interview slots will be based on availability. I am searching for Miracle families to interview and share their stories over Skype, or other. I will update this thread as necessary. Thanks!

Over these last few years, I've discovered passions of mine and things that make happy, and one of those things is giving back, especially when it comes to children. That's why instead of partying hard to celebrate turning 30, I'll be in the spirit of giving. On Saturday, May 7th starting at 12:00pm Pacific, I'll be playing video games for 30 hours straight to raise money for Children's Hospital Los Angeles through Extra Life, streamed live on Twitch. Instead of having people spend some cash buying me a drink at a bar or something, I'll be asking them to donate to my Extra Life page and make a difference in the lives of the children who come to CHLA. I've got some special benchmarks I'll be announcing for the stream, including the #ShaveIt or #SaveIt contest (inspired by @Zyaldar's idea), where the donators will decide if I shave my hair off or keep my hair. Details to be announced. Of course, feel free to join me at any point during my stream. I'll be playing the Overwatch Open Beta on PC. Some important links: Twitch Page Extra Life Page See you guys and gals this Saturday! #chla #extralife #extralifela #ForTheKids
