  2. Hey everyone It's me Brandon. The last guy to come to the meeting today I wasnt able to talk to everyone but I think a great way to start is by real time communication. So I've stumbled upon a few apps and programs that made my life a little easier. Discord(App): Is a VOIP that is similar to Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Mumble etc. The client is Cloud based lightweight and available on mobile. Download Discord here (PC) (Mobile) After getting discord: You can either use your browser or if you downloaded it you can click here or below for the: Join Buffalo NY Extra Life Guild Discord channel Also here is a google doc for you to add your information for Stream    Extra Life Streamer Info ( Add to list if you are a cool strimmer ) That's all I have until i get posts on what more you would want me to add. - Sham (Brandon)

  4. I have been seeing random updates in my email from the Extra Life Twitch page these past few weeks and thought I would share some insight from the Chicago Guild's foray into livestreaming pre-event in 2014. If you're interested in livestreaming more regularly than just on Game Day, please read on! We did have a livestream channel for the Chicago Guild and attempted to livestream periodically and share videos from those streams on YouTube and other social media platforms. It was a valuable learning experience. In order to run a successful streaming campaign BEFORE Game Day in the hopes of growing Extra Life (adding gamers, raising donations), I feel strongly that it must be a conscious and coordinated effort by an entire Guild to work at gaming online and sharing Extra Life's message via a livestreaming experience. It requires consistency, it requires strong and engaging personalities who are a positive representation of gamers and of Extra Life, and it requires some modicum of production value. It also requires a fair amount of distribution. In order to succeed and be worth the effort, the Extra Life streams need to be shared via social networks so that the channel may be discovered. That's something we all can do, whether we are on the schedule to stream or not. There is the ability to host streams on other channels in the Extra Life community to grow your own efforts and help every hospital win. I have very limited livestreaming experience, but I welcome experienced streamers to share their own insight on this topic. Apologies for the length of this post.
  5. Last year, Twitch implemented an automated music system to scan for copyright infringement on livestreams. The system resulted in thousands of flagged streams with half-hour chunks of muted audio when viewed in archived form. Earlier this year, the streaming service launched an attempt to give streamers a non-muted musical alternative with Twitch Music, a library of music that helps users know 100% what music is okay for streaming on Twitch. The initial library launched with less than 500 songs, but now the cleared selection has grown to include over 1,000 tracks. While most of the initial selection consisted mostly of EDM, the expanded music list now includes hip hop and metal. The diversification of the sounds is certainly welcome, as is the curation of playlists for streamers who are unsure where to start with a library of unfamiliar artists. The music in the Twitch Music seems to be hosted primarily on Soundcloud and Spotify, so check it out when you get a chance and create a playlist of your own that won't be muted when you watch your past broadcasts.
