  1. Telltale Games had a lot of news to drop last week at The Game Awards 2016. The long rumored Marvel-Telltale team up was revealed to be Guardians of the Galaxy with a short teaser referencing the cassette tape mixes featured in the Guardians of the Galaxy film. The series is set to premier sometime in 2017, likely around Guardians of the Galaxy 2's May 5th release date. Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series allows players to control the various members of the team as they adventure around the galaxy. Not much is known about the core story angle, but it's likely that it will tie in with the film in some capacity. "The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore through Telltale’s unique style of interactive storytelling," explained Kevin Bruner, Telltale Games' co-founder and CEO. Marvel's senior vice president of games and innovation, Jay Ong seems keen to reassure fans that the game won't be a rehash of one of the movies, telling fans that they should expect to be "immersed in an original, character-driven narrative."

  5. Telltale's co-founder and new CEO Kevin Bruner sat down with GamesIndustry to talk about the challenges the developer faces as it goes forward into its second decade of video game development. During the interview, Bruner discussed the company's as yet unannounced IP that it has been quietly working on for years: I’ll say we’ve spent a lot of time experimenting over the last decade with how powerful a storytelling tool interactive can be and when we thought about building something from the ground up that gave us absolutely everything we could dream of as storytelling tools. The right kind of story, the right kind of setting, the right kind of people involved, everything. It kind of rose organically and doing your first original IP is a pretty big deal for any company so it's something we're pouring a lot of love into. It's probably the most ambitious thing the company has ever done but we feel like we're ready for it. We’re very excited to talk about it, but we can’t say much more right now. But it is the perfect thing for us. Almost nothing is known about the new IP, but hearing about it as the culmination of almost a decade of game development experience from one of the most accomplished interactive storytellers is certainly enough to whet any gaming appetite.
