  1. Ever wanted to jump into a post-apocalyptic adventure that stars mutated humans that have taken on the characteristics of animals? Mutant Year Zero: Road To Eden seems like the kind of fever dream that's too creative for its own good, but Funcom and The Bearded Ladies are gearing up to make it a reality. Mutant Year Zero tells the story of a group of mutants trying to eek out a living after the fall of humanity. The motley crew of misfits must find Eden, a legendary paradise hidden among the ruins left by the human race. To do this, players will have to explore a rich and dangerous world filled with killer robots and rival mutant gangs. This can be done by using the real-time stealth systems to bypass potentially deadly encounters or by going in guns blazing with the hope that your team has enough firepower and tactical tricks to get the job done. Between missions, players will be able to upgrade their team, expand their forces with new recruits, and obtain new weapons. All of these downtime activities will take place in a refuge called Ark. What do you think of this? The stealthy option definitely feels like something the developers of Hitman would include in a game and the anthropomorphic animals kinda strike me as taking inspiration from Beyond Good and Evil. I'm really excited to see how all of these different ideas come together in a tangible package. There's no solid release date yet, but Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is slated for release later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. View full article

  3. After setting the record straight on the future of the company earlier this month, developer Io-Interactive announced June 20 that the beginning of Hitman would be free to play on all platforms. The move appears to be a celebration on securing the rights to the company's signature series. "I'm proud to announce that our first hello as an independent studio is to invite all gamers to play the beginning of Hitman for free," Hakan Abrak, CEO of Io-Interactive, said in a press release. Io-Interactive had been dropped by former owner Square Enix citing "extraordinary loss" as their reasoning for letting go of the team. With that news, it was uncertain where Io-interactive would head and whether or not they would be able to retain control over the Hitman IP. The Danish studio seems to be recovering, securing a buyout from Square Enix and retaining Hitman. The ICA facility, including all the content released for the area, is free to download now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. What do you think the future holds for Agent 47? Will you be playing the beginning of Hitman for the first time now that it is free? View full article

  5. Have you ever wanted to play a game that actually responded to voice commands? Well, RealmStudios has been accruing some experience making games that do just that over the past several months. The indie film channel hit upon a brilliant idea last year when it released the video Real Life First Person Shooter (Chatroulette Version), a piece of experimental filmmaking/game design that allowed random people on Chatroulette to give commands to a protagonist armed with a helmet cam. The results were really interesting, hilarious, and looked terribly fun. Following the massive popularity of RealmPictures' Chatroulette game/video, a certain game studio reached out to see if they would be interested in partnering for a similar, bigger budget project. That studio was IO-Interactive, the developers behind Hitman. RealmPictures was able to go all out, setting up a room where YouTubers from various parts of the internet could act as Agent 47's operator, giving him instructions through an ear piece and view his progress toward fulfilling his objectives around a fancy mansion. It's a pretty wild ride full of creative kills and goofs. The episodic Hitman season began on March 11 and the second episode will release on April 26 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
