  1. Though E3 proper hasn't yet begun, the pre-E3 press conferences have! This year, we are going to be capping off each day with a podcast discussing the news of the day with the talented bunch of people we've collected to cover the year's biggest gaming trade show. Day one was limited to EA's reveals and teases, but between the ghost of Burnout races past, a promising indie that has "critical acclaim" written all over it, and a whole heap of Star Wars Battlefront II information, EA gave us more than enough to chew over. Jack Gardner, Marcus Stewart and Joe Knoop (pronounced new-p) break it all down for your listening pleasure. Kick back, relax, and enjoy the show with us! View full article

  3. EA unveiled the latest title in its EA selects indie initiative. A Way Out comes from the minds of Hazelight, a team assembled by the creative minds behind indie hit Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. We saw a brief glimpse of this back in 2014, but since then the studio has been silent. Now we know more. A Way Out is a story-driven co-op-only title. The game can only be experienced with another person, either locally or online (although the developers stressed couch co-op as the ideal method). Players control Vincent and Leo, two inmates who, despite being strangers, must overcome their distrust and work together to bust out of prison. The trailer showed off the simultaneous play style, such as one player controlling Vincent while the Leo player was in the middle of a cutscene. Players tackle missions together, such as a laundry smuggling mission in which one player distracted the guard while the other pushed the cart to its destination. More explosive missions teased included a high-speed car chase/gun fight. Take a look at the game’s dramatic reveal trailer below: How do you feel about this unique focus on cooperative play? Is A Way Out an indie you'll have on your radar? View full article

  5. Josef Fares founded Hazelight, a new development studio under EA, with a core team composed of veterans who worked with him on Brothers. The indie studio's first project is still unnamed, but is teased at the end of the video announcing Hazelight. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was a fantastic accomplishment and I really can't wait to see what Hazelight has in store for those two gentlemen on that train.
