  1. We have about 17 people getting together under one roof for our marathon (which usually gets extended to around 30 hours because it's amazing!). A private facebook page was set up for those attending with a google.doc to help organize who is bringing what food/tables/games/chairs/etc... This year we are starting the night with a 2 hour fully interactive murder-mystery game for all players! The focus will then switch to board games (if you aren't aware, thinking board games are "Scattegories, Catan, or Monopoly".... that is like thinking video games are "Duck Hunt, Crash Bandicoot, and Pong". Board games have evolved just as much as video games-- check out BLOOD RAGE if you don't know ?). We will have a supply of approximately 130 board games to choose from at our event. We also have downgraded to 1 console for video-gaming system (for a few group video games) because we have found video games reduce sociability, fun, and tend to make you much more tired. Food will include chicken skewers, homemade meatballs, veggie trays, spicy chicken, bratwurst, cereals, various breakfast meats, nutrient bars, pretzels, flavored seltzer waters, juices, water, and various other snacks. We've done this 6 years now and found that eating "meals" is WAY better, energizing, and much more beneficial than just snacking on chips and candy. I, personally, am hoping to get into some games of Blood Rage, Roll Player, 7 Wonders, Terraforming Mars, Kingsburg, Captain Sonar, and many more! What do you guys have planned for game day?

Who: Our Team of gamers here at the University Village Microsoft Store. What: 6 of us will be playing a 24 hour Overwatch game stream. Others will be playing whatever games they want. They may be doing a 24-hour stream, or will make up the 24 hours over the course of the month. When: 6 of us will be playing Overwatch-PC on October 22nd-23rd from 8am-8am. We will have a live twitch stream. Attached is my twitch page, but I each member of the roster is encouraged to include links to their twitch channel on their individual page. Where: From our Homes, preferably wearing super comfortable and nerdy clothes. Why: To raise money for The Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation. 100% of the proceeds go to the foundation. Our Team goal is $1,000, and anything you can give helps a child in need. The goal may go up depending on the donation outlook. I give my sincerest thank you for your support and donations. For more information, I have included the default Extra Life message if I missed any of the talking points. Our team is on a mission to save kids through gaming, and we need your help. Each of us has chosen our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital where thousands of children are treated each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few. We'll be part of a huge international celebration of the social impact of gamers with Extra Life, and it's our sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support us with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to that team member's chosen hospital. Your donation is tax-deductible, and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids. Last year, Extra Life raised more than $8 million dollars to save kids, but in 2016 our goals, just like the needs of the kids we serve, are much, much higher. We can't do this without your help. Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation, please click on the "Roster" tab, then on a participant's name and then click the "Donate" button on their page. Thank you for caring for our kids!
  5. Hey team! So this past Friday and Saturday night, the management staff at the Wynnsong Theater in Madison was more than gracious enough to allow us to set up an Extra-Life table in their lobby, for the release weekend of Suicide Squad! Rachel and I manned the post on Friday, and had a good turnout! Quite a few people were there, we caught the interest of several different groups of gamers, from all ages and walks of life! Many of them signed up using the Extra-Life app (SUPER easy to use), and we even had a few donations. Saturday, Shane and Addison held down the fort, and we had a couple more donations and some more people signed up. Overall, we got about $20 in donations, (every little bit helps!) and several people signed up to join Extra-Life! (I would guesstimate between 10-20, but I'll get the official numbers from Mark a little later this week!)

  8. May Meeting IMPORTANT: we regret to inform that George will be stepping down as Guild President. For the time being TJ and Dean will be taking responsibility until a new President is appointed. Ideas: -We are looking into working with other guilds to split costs at cons -We plan to speak with extra life about making the guild pages easier to navigate -TJ is reaching out to the Boston guild about setting up an event at Boston Comic Con -we will be communicating with Baystate and extra life to discuss our resources -we want to look into the topaticon event, look for volunteers to man a table -we need to find an event to attend in december Community Planning: -we’ve made a facebook group on facebook called extra life springfield guild. We want to use that to send updates to everyone -until the guilds presence grows larger we felt it would be good to continue to have meetings through hangouts for the time being. We will plan an in person meeting every few months.

  10. Hello, my name is Jonathan, AKA agentc0re. I set out to make a simple, web based alert/display for when someone new donates to you. I hate installing a program just for that and some sites require twitch app authorization. On the other hand, what about YouTube Gaming? Well if you know how to add a browser source to your streaming client then this might be the solution for you. What is Extra-Life Alerts? Well my web app parses the JSON data from your participant page. It then takes the most recent person and first displays them, then it waits and checks every 5 seconds for a new donor. Currently the only feature I have up is, displaying the donor which shows Name:Amount:Message. It will fade in this information then fade it out. Currently the text color is white surrounded by a black border. No CSS is needed. I've already set the BG to transparent and hopefully provided all the options you need to make your custom URL for donation alerts unique and awesome! Instructions to set it up in OBS are on the website as well. The setup is probably very similar to any other streaming software. Current known Issues: If messages are long, they might get cut off. Not enough testing to figure out how to deal with this problem. This issue is resolved by turning on the marquee effect. It takes a while to load at start because of a wait time i had to add to hide text, long story, and then it waits another 5 seconds to run through the operation.Future plans (not in any order): Change ability for text alignmentChange text sizeChange fade in/out timesAlways on screen featureAdd custom alert soundchange font & border colorchange wait time to check between new donationsAdd Google Font API for EffectsAdd a marquee scrolling effectA bit about why I did this and why I participate in Extra-Life. When I was eight, I tore my thumb off. I was taken to our Primary Children's Hospital by the University of Utah. We were an extremely poor family and there was no way we could afford the surgery. But due to donations and such, or at least I believe it worked this way, my surgery was covered for. Two surgery's later, my thumb was reattached. To this very day my thumb is very functional. It's amazing the things you take for granted had you not had a thumb. Im so very thankful to the doctors who were able to reattach it for me. It's amazing how far medicine has come in the last 30yrs. If you fill the need there are links to donate to my donor page or straight to me. Donations are obviously optional.
  11. It's my birthday and I wanted to challenge everyone. I made this birthday wish video, and I hope you can watch it! I know there are many gamers who can relate to me and I hope you can share the reason why you do what you do! Take the challenge!
