  1. CD Projekt RED, the developers behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, announced today that the game will be receiving a new selection of collectibles from Dark Horse and J!NX during the fall season. Dark Horse will be launching a high-quality line of detailed products. These include statues, busts, and action figures, as well as replicas of various props and jewelry. Smaller items will be included as well, like stationary and barware. The first figures available will consist of Geralt, Triss, and Yennefer of Vengerberg. Soon after the initial launch of these figures, Dark Horse will release figures of Ciri and the king of the Wild Hunt himself, Eredin. Each of these figures will be custom painted, come with some quality packaging, and retail for $29.99. Rafal Jaki, CD Projekt RED's business development manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming figures, stating, "We are truly excited to bring The Witcher 3 characters to life! Wild Hunt fans requested figures of Geralt, Ciri, Yen and other collectibles multiple times, and now, thanks to this cooperation, we're finally able to fulfill these requests without putting ‘an arm and a leg’ on the price tag. I truly hope Witcher fans notice all the love and the excellent craftsmanship put into creating them!” J!NX will also be launching its own Geralt vinyl figure (seen above). It is probably the most adorable Geralt has ever looked. this coming fall. The figure will include removable swords and movable joints. The vinyl figure and a special variant will only be available through either the official Witcher website or the official J!NX store.

  3. Beginning January 1, 2015, Disney's Marvel will become the new steward for Star Wars in its comic form. Dark Horse Comics will lose their right to distribute their 24 year digital backlog meaning that those digital issues will disappear, possibly forever. The good news? Dark Horse is sending off their era of Star Wars by offering 50% off the entire collection. For $300, consumers can own the past 24 years of Dark Horse Star Wars, valued at a little over $2,700. This includes everything about Knights of the Old Republic, the Clone Wars, Dawn of the Jedi, Dark Empire, and more. Sure, the stories contained in Dark Horse Comic's combined 28,353 pages might not be canon anymore, but the stories are still great (Dark Empire is a must read) and the artwork remains gorgeous.

  5. EVE Online, the MMO famous for tales of thievery, betrayal, and massive wars, has a series of graphic novels based on actual events set into motion and carried out by its players. Oh, and the entire run of the story is available for free until June. EVE: True Stories, "Thieves Among Us," is set to be a four issue run. It tells the story of the dismantling of EVE Online's galactic super-power known as the Band of Brothers as seen from the perspective of the player Haargoth Agamar, who was instrumental to the empire's collapse. Developer CCP worked closely with Dark Horse to bring in talented writers and artists onto this series and their work shows. CCP only interfered to make sure that ship models and the language used was accurate with the EVE Online setting, otherwise writer Daniel Way and artists Tomm Coker, Alejandro Aragón, Federico Dallocchio and Daniel Warren Johnson were given free artistic reign to interpret the story. The result is one of the most interesting video game comic series to be released in quite some time. Certainly the first to be based on player events within an MMO. The final installment in "Thieves Among Us" will be released on April 2. From now until June, CCP has allowed the comic to be free through Dark Horse digital, meaning it can be read for free online, or via Android or iOS apps. When June swings around, the series will release as a physical hardcover of all four issues in stores and the digital versions will be available for purchase as e-books. If you're interested in reading the comics, head over to Dark Horse Digital. You'll have to make an account, but they give you a bunch of free comics for joining, so it isn't such a bad deal. For those interested in reading more interesting stories from the EVE universe, check out CCP's True Stories forum where they have collected insanely interesting stories from their players. 7. Between a successful book series and two popular video game adaptations, Geralt of Rivera, aka The Witcher, has made quite a name for himself in the United States. Dark Horse Comics has decided to give Geralt the graphic treatment. The comic book series will be drafted by Bandette writer Paul Tobin with covers by 100 Bullets cover artist Dave "The Reverend" Johnson and artwork Joe Querio. The story will center on Geralt as he wanders through an area near the Black Forest in the land of Angren. While there, he encounters a widowed man, whose late wife is in quite a murderous mood and has taken over the mansion known as the House of Glass. Of course, this leads to Geralt travelling to the manor to expel the undead creature and safeguard the land. The first issue will be available on March 19, 2014. If you want some more insight into the upcoming Witcher 3, check out our E3 coverage. View full article
