    June Update

Hey Team, Below are some notes from our May meeting alongside June updates. Reminder: We need resources for our two big conventions this year (LPGE August 5th and 6th, QuakeCon August 24th through 27th) I'll be working on contracts with the two convention hosts. I may pull in David and Jerod to assist if I need a hand. We'll also work with Fort Worth head honcho David to see what kind of raffle swag we can pull down in advance of the conventions. I also need to reach out to our local Microsoft store contacts to see how we can get involved in the Xbox One X launch activities later this year or if they will also be in attendance for either of the two cons we attend. Dallas David and a few other folks mentioned checking in with local venues (movie theaters and arcades) to see if they are interested in coordinating one off events in partnership with us. Next meeting for the group is June 27th per the calendar here at the hub and FB. Let me know if I missed anything. Please keep an eye on the monthly emails from our national team with event recaps and important notices. Until next time, enjoy the E3 info blitz! - Scott

QuakeCon is an annual celebration of games and the people who play them. Founded in 1996 by a group of friends on IRC, QuakeCon has grown to become one of the most distinguished festivals in gaming, welcoming thousands of gamers from around the globe to participate in the annual four-day event. QuakeCon features North America’s largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN Party, tournaments, exhibits, workshops, sneak peeks of Bethesda’s upcoming games, and more. QuakeCon is free and open to the public thanks to the support of id Software, Bethesda Softworks, the QuakeCon volunteer staff, and its event sponsors and exhibitors.

    2017 is here!

Hey Everyone, I just caught a private message notice buried in my Gmail spam filter, and when I logged in I realized I had missed quite a few messages. Thanks, Tapatalk! Having said that, I wanted to let forum visitors know we are planning to hold our typical kickoff event in either late February or early March at the local hospital offices. We have had pretty successful kickoff events two years running, so we look forward to another one. At the kickoff event you can expect a brief recap of what worked and what didn't from the previous calendar year along with some basic goal brainstorming for the current calendar year. We usually try to field some questions from newcomers as well. In the meantime, please feel free to get registered for this year's fundraising. You can already register for your 2017 page and customize your information via the usual methods through the main site, Let us know in the comments if anyone is new or if anyone at all has burning questions. Thanks!
  23. Quick update on our October meeting - We will meet via Discord on October 25th at 7PM Central. Focus will be on game day planning, fundraising, and last second outreach plans. Please sign up for the Thunderclap this year and encourage your friends to do the same. Current numbers: $30,460 with 354 participants
  24. until
Dallas' October meeting will be held virtually via Discord.
  25. Current totals: Dallas 290 registered | $24,970.00 raised Fort Worth 255 registered | $4,445.00 raised Meeting recap: We had a modest turnout this month, but the discussion was really productive. Here are some ideas we will be following up on. A suggestion was made to have a Guild Halloween party for our social event in October. We'll flesh this out over the coming month, but it got really positive feedback while we were discussing it. Both of the local Microsoft stores (Northpark and Stonebriar) have game launch events this Saturday (Forza, September 24th) from 6 to 8 PM, and Stonebriar will be hosting another launch event next Saturday (FIFA, October 1st). It's short notice, but we have been welcomed to attend. We need to sync up on what has been planned or should be planned with Alamo Drafthouse. David (from FW Guild) has mentioned working with them, and the other David (from Dallas Guild) has also been in touch with them. Maybe we can do a couple of events between October and November? Aside from that the focus has been on reminding everyone to tell friends, families, neighbors, and local stores about the charity. With one month left, now is a good time just to get visibility, whether it be through postcards or posters or talking up the event. Next meeting: October's meeting will be on Discord and will focus on marathon tips and local plans/events. By the time we chat in October, the recruitment drive for the year will be all but wrapped with two weeks left, so bring your questions or suggestions about marathon-ing.
