  1. Mindcrack has been one of the longest running organizations supporting Extra Life. Beginning in 2013, the team has raised almost $1 million USD for the kids through their combined efforts. This year, they are around $60,000 USD shy of their overall fundraising mission to surpass $1 million USD. Last year, the Mindcrack team managed to raise a little over $100,000 USD. They have set a goal this year of $200,000 USD and currently sit at $52,991 USD. The team feels very confident that their 48-hour Extra Life stream that begins on October 25 will be what tips the team into their bold new frontier of fundraising. All of your favorite Mindcrack streamers will be involved: Guude Aureylian Arkas Jsano KurtJMac SethBling Sevadus W92Baj OMGChad Mhykol Pakratt Pyro The Mindcrack stream will be sponsored by Marriott International, Asus, MadeGood, and MODX. Additionally, the stream will feature a variety of super-secret surprise guests on the stream for additional commentary. These guests will also appear in the Minecraft Ultra Hardcore matches that the Mindcrack team has been known for. The team behind Mindcrack has been so dedicated to fundraising for Extra Life that some of them have become Extra Life Ambassadors! We featured Aureylian as she geared up for a recent stream to raise money for Children’s Hospital of St. Louis. There’s also Guude, who plays for Duke Hospital in North Carolina. OMGChad raises money for Dallas’ Children’s Medical Center. Finally, Sevadus has been playing for Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Hawaii. The stream will begin on October 25 at 12pm CDT with a lengthy pre-show. The stream proper will begin that night at 6pm CDT. Beginning with building games and VR horror games, it will go into the wee hours of the morning with audience involvement activities like Twitch Sings, Jack Box, and more! Saturday the 26th will feature the first Minecraft Ultra Hardcore match strange games like Battleship Twister, and something called “Bob Ross Paint Human Canvas.” The 27th will bring another round of Minecraft Ultra Hardcore, poker, and a spicy challenge before wrapping up with a closing ceremony at 5pm CDT. Be sure to tune into all of the craziness on Twitch or the specially made Mindecrack Marathon website. You can join or support the Mindcrack fundraising efforts on their Extra Life team page. Don't forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!

  3. Join in the fun tomorrow as one of our most dedicated Extra Lifers kicks off a 12 hour charity marathon! Aureylian will be playing a variety of games (and even doing some live singing!) on her Twitch stream while working to raise $12,000 USD for the kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. There will be a number of incentives for fundraising including pies to the face, gift packages, and more! If you aren't aware, Aureylian has been participating in Extra Life for the past five years making use of her platform as a Twitch Ambassador to help kids in her local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. She regularly gives key note speeches at TwitchCon, Twitch's PAX events, appears prominently in Mindcrack events, and served as a co-host for MineCon Earth in 2018. Her streaming channel is best known for Minecraft and The Sims, but she also branches out into a variety of FPS games. She even played a part in Michelle Obama's Twitch stream that was held for #CollegeSigningDay alongside Ninja and Anne Munition! Over the past several years, Aureylian has raised over $47,000 USD for the kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. With her goal this year, she's hoping to reach or surpass the $60,000 USD mark. She boasts a following of over 150,000 on Twitch and just shy of 300,000 on YouTube. She has been one of our biggest supporters, earning her the title of Extra Life Ambassador for 2019. We are so proud to be able to work with such a positive force in the gaming community to build something amazing for children across the United States and Canada. If you are curious about what will be going down on the stream itself, a wide variety of activities are planned. The action will start off with a chill morning stream of the house renovation game House Flipper at 8am PT. Following that, get ready for some spooky fun at 10am PT with a playthrough of a Minecraft adventure set in an eerie realm. Speaking of realms, the latest expansion for The Sims, Realm of Magic, will be up at 12pm PT. Subnautica will be the core afternoon game from 2pm PT until 4pm PT. In the late afternoon and into the evening, Aureylian will be putting her voice to the test with two hours of Twitch Sings where donors will choose which songs she belts out live until 6pm PT. The last two hour segment of the stream will be either Green Hell Game or Resident Evil II depending on whether donors have reached the $5,000 USD incentive mark. There will be plenty of other things popping up on the stream on top of all of that, from guests to incentive breaks to giveaways. It's gonna be a great time! Finally, Aureylian's Twitch stream has been sponsored by MadeGood, a company that produces organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO snacks for kids in a facility free from the 8 common allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, dairy, egg, soy, sesame, fish and shellfish. At least one of the prizes being given away during her stream will consist of a MadeGood giveaway. One of the really neat things about this sponsorship is that during the month of October, MadeGood will be donating a portion of their Chocolate Chip Granola Mini Bar sales to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals! These bars are limited and will only be sold during the month of October, so get 'em while they're hot from most major retailers or online through Amazon or MadeGood itself! If you have any questions about the product, be sure to reach out to MadeGood's social media presence on Twitter: @MadeGoodFoods. Be sure to tune in to Aureylian's Twitch stream any time tomorrow from 8am PT until 8pm PT. Hope we'll see you there! Don't forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!

  5. During the month of May, Extra Life’s current top fundraiser, Aureylian, worked with Twitch to set up the event Mining for Charity. Four teams totaling forty-eight Twitch broadcasters competed in ten different Mineplex minigames. Each team represented a different charity organization: AbleGamers, Child’s Play, Extra Life, and Stand for the Silent. The team that racked up the most points over the course of the month of Mineplex games won a $5,000 prize for their charity. Unfortunately, Extra Life came in third place, but even third place received a pretty nice chunk of change courtesy of some Twitch auctions. I had the opportunity to ask Aureylian some questions regarding Mining for Charity and her own involvement in Extra Life. --- How did you first get involved in Extra Life? I was invited to go along to the Celebration last year in Orlando along with some other gamers and Twitch employees to learn more about Extra Life. After meeting all of the kids, and being a gamer and mom myself, it seems like I was meant to be there. I have become so passionate about Extra Life, because it literally hits every major aspect of my life. What is your goal for this year and what are you going to try differently to achieve it (besides Minecraft charity tournaments)? My goal for this year is $25k. I've done a few shorter livestreams already this year and am planning at least two more (including the National Game Day). I've started integrating incentives in my game play (like renaming missions in Minecraft to donators of certain levels) and stopping livestreams to sing karaoke when someone donates $25. It's a continued effort throughout the year and a big part of my daily life, not just something I do once a year. You are currently our top fundraiser (which is so flippin' amazing). How have you gone about raising money and what do you think other people do to emulate your success on that particular front? Or, to put it another way, how can other people be as fantastic as yourself? Haha, well, not sure I'm THAT fantastic. Like I said before, Extra Life is something I am so passionate about that I speak about it and involve it on an almost daily basis. I work in my local office to donate my time, as well as raise funds and involve as many people I can. I don't know that anyone [could exactly] emulate my success, but I did help write a pretty cool tips piece on the blog for Extra Life last year that seemed to help a few people. You work at Twitch, so can you speak to how Twitch has gotten involved with Extra Life on a company-wide level? Twitch supports many charities. As an organization, we donate many resources to help promote and ensure the success of streamers who choose to stream for charity. Specifically for events like Mining For Charity, we leverage our user base to help nonprofits get exposure and involve content creators in the promotion of great causes. Okay, I pay follow eSports a fair amount and I've played many more hours of Minecraft than I'd care to admit in polite company, but I've never really heard about a Minecraft tournament. Could you explain how that works, where did the idea come from, etc.? I came up with the idea and Mineplex made it come to life. For Mining for Charity, we had four teams of 12 players (8 full time and 4 alternates). They competed each week in a series of Minecraft minigames for four weeks. Depending on their placement in each round, they received points, and at the end of the day, the place of their points determined the daily points they received. At the end of the tournament, two teams tied for first, so they went into a tiebreaker round. The goal was not only to have our content creators collaborate and help grow their audiences, but to help support charities we are passionate about in the process. Prior to the start of the tournament, each team was allowed to pick their own charity to play on behalf of, and we of course were thrilled when one of our teams chose to play on behalf of Extra Life. Twitch donated a designated amount to first place and funds were also raised by auctioning off a rare White Twitch hoodie and limited edition Twitch Minecraft shirt, both signed by Minecraft content creator. Those proceeds were all divided among 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams. As Mike said in that introductory email, who were the casters that got involved so we can shower them with praise? AnikiDomo - Bashurverse - BlameTheController - ChaosChunk - Fyrflies - RubenDelight - Darkmalmine - Siyliss - tehneyrzomb - TerasHD - thejarren - wyld --- A huge thanks to Aureylian, he co-workers at Twitch, and all of the amazing people who participated in Mining for Charity!
