  6. Among a number of announcements made during GDC this year, Microsoft's Chris Charla, the director of the company's ID@Xbox program, has declared that they will be supporting the option of players not only playing across Xbox One and Windows 10, but also playing with friends on PS4, Wii U, or other PC platforms. This initiative will be available to all developers. Ultimately this means that each Xbox One developer will be responsible for creating and maintaining support for this expanded cross-play functionality. Microsoft has only announced one game that will be taking advantage of this feature by bridging PC and Xbox One players: Rocket League. This is actually a really exciting announcement. Think about the possibilities. Picture a unified Rocket League community that can pit PC, PS4, and Xbox One players against one another. Imagine if Bungie took advantage of this and created a way for all Destiny players could come together regardless of platform. These things are possible now with what Microsoft is proposing. It remains to be seen if Sony or Nintendo will take Microsoft up on their offer and work together, but I'd say one of the big hardware manufacturers extending the offer is a huge leap in a direction that many people who love games have been dreaming of for a long time. Microsoft also announced MonoGame will finally be coming to Xbox One, a programming framework for PC developers to easily get their game onto the console. The old XNA framework doesn't fly on their console, but MonoGame allows devs to bridge the gap between the PC and consoles. You can see MonoGame in use on PS4 with titles like Towerfall: Ascension, Mercenary Kings, and Transistor. The first title to take advantage of Mono Game on Xbox One will be Axiom Verge, the dark Metroid-esque sidescroller from 2015. View full article

  15. So I just got an Xbox One as a Christmas gift from the Mrs. Zy. I am very excited for this because I have been waiting a long time to play Rare Replay. Now I have all the consoles but I have been out of the loop of what games the One has. I bought Sunset Overdrive and that's been a lot of fun but my question to you guys, what are some good Xbox One Exclusives? I am using my PS4 as the multiplatform console so games that are on both systems I will most likely get on PS4 but I am curious if anyone had recommendations for exclusives that I should check out or try for the Xbox One?
  16. Have you been dying to see backwards compatibility for the Xbox One? The wait is almost over. Microsoft will be releasing a list of over one hundred Xbox 360 titles that will be playable on the Xbox One on November 9, next Monday. This was confirmed by lead Xbox engineer Mike Yabarra in a tweet earlier today. View full article
