  5. If you were watching the Wizards of the Coast Dungeons and Dragons livestream during Extra Life 2017 you might have noticed that they did a live on-shot of an adventure dubbed The Lost Kenku run by Shawn Wood. The adventure proved to be pretty popular, bringing in both donations and requests after the fact to publish the adventure notes. To that end, Wood went on to write and illustrate a full version of the flexible adventure to benefit Extra Life, much like The Tortle Package supplement that they released for the Tomb of Annihilation Adventure. The adventure sends players on a quest to find a Kenku thief (Kenku are strange, magpie-like bird people). It introduces the village of Weirding, a strange community nestled in the jungles of Chult. The village holds many secrets and perhaps one of those holds the key to finding that blasted Kenku. You can watch the adventure being played in one session by the Dungeons and Dragons team during their Extra Life stream saved on YouTube. The adventure opens with a note from the author that touches on balance and how it can be tweaked for higher or lower level characters, but it ends with the following, "A special thanks to the wonderful donors of the Extra Life Charity and the Dungeons and Dragons Team. Together we can manage to do a little bit of good in this mind-flayer-run world." If you're interested in spicing up your tabletop gaming, you can find The Lost Kenku on dmsguild.com. Unfortunately, it's not clear if it will make its way onto DnD Beyond, Wizards of the Coast's digital Dungeons and Dragons compendium and gameplay tool.

  10. Hey Friends! Another Game Day and another Extra Life milestone! The past month marked a number of fundraising firsts and shattered records, meaning November 2017 saw the entire community step up and raise more money than ever before to help sick and injured kids across North America. Our monthly updates are sent out to let you all know the important news from around the community. Buckle in, because you’re the best gaming has to offer! A Record-Breaking Game Day Game Day weekend left our jaws on the floor this year as you all came together to raise over $1.8 million for the kids! The collective efforts of thousands of gamers across all kinds of platforms and mediums pushed us beyond the $7 million mark. It was a weekend of coming together, helping children, and forging memories. We certainly won't be forgetting our milestone celebration anytime soon! First $1MM+ Team in Extra Life History We are proud to announce that Rooster Teeth now holds the honor of being the first team to raise over $1 MILLION! Since they began participating in Extra Life, the RT community has collected more than $3 million for Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. They're making miracles happen for those kids. November was Humbling! The past month has seen game developers and publishers support Extra Life through Humble Bundle. Our friends at Double Fine Productions created the Day of the Devs Bundle raising over $57K for the kids. For Game Day, we had the opportunity to put together the massive official Extra Life Humble Bundle that brought in an additional $60K with the help of Bandai Namco, Adult Swim Games, Paradox Interactive, DrinkBox Studios, and PAIZO. Reminder: You can support Extra Life with each Humble Bundle purchase by using our partner link. Continuing to Make Miracles We may have broken $7 million on Game Day weekend, but the Extra Life community continued fundraising for all of November. That month of fundraising means that Extra Life 2017 has currently raised over $10 MILLION FOR THE KIDS!!! That's truly incredible! Every year, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the US and Canada treat 10 million kids, and it is amazing to see Extra Life step up to try to meet their needs. We’ve broken a lot of records this year, but remember that there’s still time to do more. Fundraising remains open through December 31st. We put together some fundraising tips for those in the community who want to help us reach $10.5 million before the end of 2017. Get your offline and matching donations in as soon as possible to count toward your 2017 fundraising total! Never stop pushing forward for fun, fellowship, and – as always…. 12. It might seem an obvious choice to write a blog with the intent of “giving thanks” as we wrap up the Thanksgiving holiday here in the States last week, but when you're fortunate enough to have a community like the Extra Life community, we feel it’s an honor and privilege to do so. You see, a couple weeks ago, we witnessed something happen in the Extra Life community that we had a hard time even imagining. We watched a single Extra Life team raise over $1 million #ForTheKids… in 24-hours. In fact, we watched them raise over $1.2 million! Team Rooster Teeth, led by the fearless Jack Pattillo and Caiti Ward, hosted their 7th Extra Life marathon over the years, full of antics and crazy shenanigans, to raise money for children and their families who desperately need your support. To simply state that we’re thankful for Jack Pattillo, Caiti Ward and everyone over at Rooster Teeth team would be grossly understating who they are and the role they’ve played in growing the Extra Life community to become a force for good for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2010, Rooster Teeth has enlisted nearly 11,000 of their fans into the Extra Life community and together, have raised an astonishing $3.5+ million dollars for 155 different Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (that’s just over 90% of our member hospitals) across the US and Canada. You can understand that when we see someone use #RTEXTRALIFE, we know they’re serious about playing games and healing kids. We know that the Rooster Teeth gang does some pretty, well, unorthodox things for donations. But this year we wanted to be sure note this ultimate “awwww cute” highlight. The Rooster Teeth community is in it for the long haul as the company has pledged to raise $3 million for Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, TX to help pay for a new mental health wing so kids with mental illnesses will have a special place to be treated. The new mental health wing at Dell Children’s will have a healing garden that provides a place for the kids to play, relax and recharge during their stay and treatment in the hospital and will be properly named the “Rooster Teeth Healing Garden”! As we recall the time spent with family and friends last week we are reminded of the love and enthusiasm that powers Extra Life. We are grateful for Rooster Teeth, Jack, Caiti and the thousands of people who’ve watched, shared, participated and donated to Extra Life, supporting and improving the lives of families in their own and other’s communities. This love and enthusiasm that powers Extra Life continues to amaze all of us here at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. On behalf of our hospitals and kids receiving treatment and care, thank you. Guild Leaders, Let's Chat! We have a lot to be thankful for this year! Namely, the amazing participation and support from Guilds across the US and Canada. Swing by the Discord and let's chat about 2017, what worked, what didn't and what we can do to finish strong for Extra Life until the end of the year. I really enjoyed our chat in September, so please let's gather once more before the end of the year!
  16. I am STILL dragging from nearly a week ago. Need. More. Coffee. But every minute was worth it. Extra Life weekend (Nov 4-5) brought in over $1.8 million for CMN Hospitals, bringing the overall fundraising total of Extra Life close to $7.8 million as of 11-9-17. We are stunned! Amazed! Honored! That is what we like to call, a success! The donations are STILL coming in too! We know that many of you are playing in the coming weeks, so we have a good feeling about 2017. If you came up short of your goal, no problem! There's still time to collect donations until 12/31/2017. Grab that loot too! Extra Lifers still have time to raise more funds and unlock some cool incentives! The end of Game Day weekend also brought forth the winners of the ESA Foundation Challenge . Congratulations to Seattle Children's Hospital for winning top fundraising hospital, and Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation for winning top hospital per capita! We are so proud of this community. You have really come through once again for the kids at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the US and Canada. Keep up the good work, we still have plenty of time to play games and heal kids! View full article

  18. Hello Extra Lifers! We love when new folks join us in raising awareness and support for our Children's Miracle Network Hospitals through Extra Life. Sound off! Let us know more about you! Why do you Extra Life? How long have you been participating? What Hospital do you play for and why? Are you a member of one of our Guilds? What do you do when you aren't helping kids? What do you play? PC, Console, handheld? Tabletop? Cosplay/Creative? Something else entirely!?
  19. Hello, I remember in years past you had the choice to choose a name on your dashboard page I believe, instead of a regular participant id and that allowed you to use www.extra-life.org/participant/name. However, the name I used to use and that format does not work anymore, as well, I see nowhere to change this on my dashboard anymore. I know people who can still use their www.extra-life.org/participant/name format and it still works. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a place to choose this as in the past? Please help as this makes it easier for people online to go to a pasted URL the shorter and easier it is made like using names instead of numbers. Thank you for your time, efforts, and any help given.
  20. Here we are in the final stretch before Game Day! October was one of our busiest months. The Los Angeles and Orange County Guilds crushed TwitchCon. 25. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and the ESA Foundation have been prolific partners with Extra Life from the very beginning! Each year we love announcing this challenge to our Extra Lifers and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and this year is no different! We're thrilled to announce the 2017 ESA Foundation Extra Life Challenge. This is a chance to unlock a huge donation for your local Children's Miracle Network Hospital by doing what you do best; Playing Games to Heal Kids. The Internet simply does not have enough bandwidth for us to fully transmit our gratitude. THANK YOU, ESA FOUNDATION! The ESA Foundation's generous $60,000 grant is divided into two prizes that Extra Lifers can unlock for their hospital by working together to raise all they can for the sick and injured kids that Extra Life supports. Prize #1: Top Overall Fundraising - $30,000 2017 Recipient: Seattle Children's Hospital! ESA Foundation is awarding a $30,000 prize to the hospital whose Extra Lifers raise the most money overall by 9:00am Central Time on Sunday, November 5th.. The total will include only funds raised and received by the deadline (all the more reason to get your offline gifts in early or convert them to digital donations). Last year, the San Francisco-Oakland market took home the funds! Okay, but what if YOUR town is not as big as the top dogs on this list? The ESA Foundation has a SECOND prize to recognize the needs of smaller hospitals and the kids they serve. Prize #2: top Fundraising Per Capita - $30,000 2017 Recipient: Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation Using census data for the areas served by our hospitals, an additional award of $30,000 will be unlocked for the hospital with the highest per capita fundraising. To compute per capita we divide the population of the area by the dollars raised for that hospital. The hospital with the highest per capita amount at 9:00 am Central Time on Sunday, November 5th will win. Again, only funds that are raised and received by this time will be counted towards this figure. Note: A hospital can only unlock one award, even if they are the highest for both the overall fundraising and top fundraising per capita. In the event that this happens, the hospital will unlock the overall fundraising grant and the next highest per capita fundraising hospital will unlock that grant. Last year, UVM Children's Hospital in Vermont edged out the competition to win! Working with the ESA and the ESA Foundation continues to make Extra Life and our communities stronger! Now get fundraising and unlock these major achievements! View full article
