  2. Hey ABQ Extra Lifers! Welcome to 2019 and a new exciting year of helping out NM kids in need! 12. How's it going Albuquerque Extra Lifers! It has been much too long. I have more than a few things and plenty that I need help with moving forward. Let's talk about Las Cruces Comic Con! LCCC will be the weekend of September 9th from Friday through Sunday. Location : 680 E University Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88001 Arrival times will be Friday September 9th at 2 PM and departure from the event will be Sunday September 11th at 6 PM Departing Albuquerque at ~ 12 PM Friday and arriving back to Albuquerque on Sunday at ~9:30PM You will be responsible for your own lodging and meals All normal "con" rules apply If you wish to cosplay make sure it is family friendly and think if you can wear it to the Children's Hospital visits, it is OK to wear while working at the con. I am making myself available in order to not only travel to the event but to work most of the weekend. We cannot provide lodging or transport, however, Cruz will be attending the event for most of the weekend and we are looking for other Guild members who may already be planning on attending or can cover their own lodging needs for Friday and Saturday nights. The con directors will be providing us with booth space as well as two passes for the Guild members currently working the Extra Life Albuquerque booth. Anyone not working the booth is subject to an entrance fee for the day. We are working on getting power donated by the facility. I think this would be a great opportunity for Guild members to visit other Extra Lifers in different parts of New Mexico as well as show our friends down south that we are looking forward to their efforts and raising funds alongside them as we get closer to the November nationwide event! If you are interested in going to the event and helping us with coverage for the weekend or have any other questions about the event get in contact with @omni_prime, @GeneraLedger, or @islander. There will be an excel google doc link to follow in order to work "shifts" out so that we don't get overwhelmed by the time at the event. Think mornings, lunch, afternoon, and evenings. Thanks as always guys! @omni_prime

  14. Good morning Cecil, I think this is a great idea, I do see that there are some Pokemon go players in the community who seem to be getting a little bit more agitated with getting cleared up by officers in the evening hours from Old Town. The last thing that I want as both a player and as part of the extra Life Community is for there to be bad relations between us gamers and the actual law enforcement. So for direction I would most likely start with APD and reach out to their front desk officer to find out if there's a public liaison or public Outreach liaison that we can work with directly. Also it seems that a lot of the members of the Chamber of Commerce might be catching on to the crazy as well so it would be great to see if we can get food trucks or local businesses to cater as well as the permit donated for such an event and see if we can't get the city on board through the mayor's office or otherwise. If you would like to take point on this and then get into contact with either one of those offices let me know which one you have not contacted and I will reach out to the other. The city of Albuquerque may already have something in the works. I think this would be a great opportunity to maybe even join forces with a couple of other not-for-profits to see if they would be interested in having a presence of such an event as well. For example there is a not-for-profit called dreamtree project up in Taos which helps at-risk youth. For getting involved with already existing events that can happen at any time by any guild member or any player with extra life, such as handing out flyers and talking to individuals about Extra Life, however when it comes to planning events this is going to have to fall on time that is outside of Guild Time for the reason of our directive to be Recruitment and solely recruitment. I have already spoken with Matt I will also bring this up in our email conversation with leadership to see how we can maybe get some feedback from other guilds and to find out exactly what they did to get something like this rolling without appearing too far off of our main directive. Thanks again for the initiative I think this could turn into a huge opportunity to make a presence for extra life known in the area especially for something that is creating such a positive impact and is taking the World by storm.

We will need 2 people to be present during the posted time frame at Active Imagination this Friday. Important rules: 1. Do not leave the designated table/area to recruit. This is happening during a tournament style event. Let players approach the table and connect with them at that moment. a. Do not be overly loud, please respect the tournament participants. 2. Do not wander in the play area during the rounds, or during the time between rounds. This is the player's space and we have been invited into it. 3. Do be friendly and be creative in giving examples to Card game players about what they can do to help out their local CMN Hospital: UNM Children's Hospital. 4. This can become a regular recruiting opportunity for us in the future. If you have any questions Ben is the GM for Active Imagination and runs the tournaments at this location. 5. Have fun, if you don't know how to play magic, engage players to learn more about the game, magic players love to talk about what they love to play! If you wish to head up this event, please contact myself, Matt, or Chris about needs and equipment. Someone will need to pick up the table supplies on Thursday, and there may be time on Friday to do so as well. Active Imagination is located: 11200 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 Our setup time is before the tournament gets underway and ends before the tournament ends so that way we are not too intrusive.
  18. Awesome!!! So glad to meet you Stephanie! I am Bernardo the current sitting VP of the Albuquerque Guild. I look forward to reaching out more here in the near future for more information. Thanks for your continued support of such a great organization! I can't wait to do more myself. Cheers, omni
  19. Hey Guildmates! We've got it! Cascade Games, LLC. will be providing Extra Life Albuquerque with a table space at the upcoming Grand Prix Albuquerque! Time are listed above, but if you curious Friday 4/15 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Saturday 4/16 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM and Sunday 4/17 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Are all available for coverage. Zee can you email me @ bernardoj.gallegos@gmail.com to talk about Friday setup? I am coordinating materials pick up from Kathryn through Cruz (at Guild Launch and works near UNM-CH) before Friday. We will need someone there to do Setup and cover Friday from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Typically Friday is registration and pre-event tournaments, but the bulk of participants in the main tournament will arrive closer to 10 AM Saturday. If you have any questions you can email me as I continue to coordinate through Kathryn, plus if you're a gamer, well Magic will be happening all weekend! Let's make this a great opportunity to close in on our goal for this year! omni out
  20. That would be super helpful. We will need folks for both Saturday and Sunday.
  21. @Ey3zonly we will definitely need your help the 15th for setup and that days volunteering. I will start working with Kathryn to find out when we can pick up supplies for our table space.
  22. Hey Albuquerque Guildmates! Long awaited update on this opportunity: I have been emailing Tim at Cascade Games, LLC in regards to a booth. He is awaiting a response from Wizards of the Coast for us to have a table near the VIP Players Lounge and Player Hangout areas. (Same location) We will need 2 - 4 Volunteers for this event during the duration of the event. I can be available for the Saturday and Sunday events all day if need be, but this would be a great first (Post Guild Launch) event for us to be present at as ABQ Guild Members! The Schedule is looking as follows from the event website. 4/15 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM 4/16 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM and 4/17 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM I will need help most with a presence on that Friday as I work 8 - 5 PM Mon - Fri. Please respond here if you can be available during any of the above times and include a preference so if we have a large number of Guild Members available we can cover the whole convention. At least 2 though, at all times. If we can get volunteers nailed down all we would be waiting for is a green light from Tim and someone to pick up resources from Kathryn ahead of the event. I am also speaking with Kathryn about what is expected as far as presence goes should we get a table slot for Extra Life @ Grand Prix Albuquerque! More to come so stay tuned. omni out
  23. Greetings Albuquerque/NM Extra-Lifers! This year is rolling along and not showing signs of slowing. I say let's race the cart instead of just getting on board! We have a great opportunity coming up very soon as it pertains to Grand Prix Albuquerque. What is Grand Prix Albuquerque? I'm glad you asked. It is a three day Magic: The Gathering mini-con for competitive MTG Players! Currently the website is showing about half of their capacity as signed up for the event 670/1250 (as off my typing this post). This means there is a large group of gamers, some of whom I would guess may play video games as well. Point being, let's jump at this opportunity to see if we can make a recruitment splash towards our goal! I will email Cascade Games, LLC who is running the event and ask for some donated booth space. This would be a great way to reach out to a large number of gamers at an event close to home! More to come, prime out
