Why do you Extra Life?My strongest memories of playing video games when I was younger are from times when I was sick. It always took my mind off the bad stuff. I'm disabled, I love helping wherever I can, but I'm not going to be running any marathons. This is my marathon. How long have you been participating? This is my first year participating. I found out last year a day or two after the big event. I'm all in this time! What Hospital do you play for and why?I am playing for Boston Children's Hospital. My stepson is also disabled (with the same rare genetic disorder I have - weird coincidence!), and the closest specialist for our condition is at Boston Children's Hospital. The daughter of a friend from church gets care from there as well for issues related to a brain tumor. Are you a member of one of our Guilds? Not presently, but I think I probably should be.What do you do when you aren't helping kids?I'm a student of Creative Writing. So, mostly, I write. I want to eventually work in game writing for child-and-family-friendly games ... meaning games that parents can share and enjoy with their kids, not just grit their teeth and tolerate. You don't have to talk down to kids for them to enjoy a good story. Kids have pretty sophisticated understandings of fiction and humor if you give them the chance. I'm also very active in my church.Anything else you'd like your fellow Extra Lifers to know about you!I'm a stepdad. I take this really seriously. This kid deserves everything I can give him. If I can help other people's kids too, I'm for it.
