  1. EDIT: I've got a time slot on the official stream for two hours tomorrow night. 11PM-1AM EST. Going to run some Legendary campaign. I still have a spot or two open. Hey guys, You guys might recognize me from the promotional video that's been playing on twitch the past couple days. I was lucky enough to be the promotional contest winner last year and i'm thrilled to see my video still getting air time. My ExtraLife marathon plans changed kind of last minute this year. I'm going to be playing Friday into Saturday so i'm starting a little early. I'll be playing Halo 5 and i'm looking for fellow ExtraLifers for Custom Games/Matchmaking, possibly Campaign. I've applied for official stream time but that is not any guarantee. I just want to get some people together and have some fun. I will of course be playing sporadically over the next couple days getting ready and getting my stream set up. My gamertag is essemir. Feel free to add me for some games whenever, but if you're looking to play this weekend leave a comment and let's see what kind of turnout we can get. Thanks! EDIT: For those who play a little more competitive like myself, i'm currently ranked Plat 2 in Team Arena. So if you're similar i'm down for that playlist, otherwise i'm down for Slayer with whoever.
  2. Congrats on the Guild Launch Hershey! On behalf of the Philadelphia guild, Welcome. Philadelphia was beginning to reach beyond what some would consider reasonable territory last year so the Hershey launch should really help Pennsylvania Extra Life efforts in 2015. I'm sure we'll get the chance to collaborate at some point but feel free to come to us with any questions. Thanks for being awesome and good luck!
  3. My group has been playing 5e for a couple months now and having a blast. Granted most of us are still pretty new to D&D as a whole but we've been enjoying 5e a lot. We actually went from 3.5 right to 5. We gave 4e a shot a long time ago but didn't find it particularly enjoyable. I've always been a fan of the Paladin archetype in the "holy warrior/magic melee" sense, and the 5e Paladin makes the class far more exciting to play without feeling so restricted with my decision making to the point of hindering my party for the sake of my beliefs. I've been playing an Oath of Vengeance Paladin and loving it. I rarely take a hit, and I have the ability to mini nova the crap out of most enemies so far. The only thing I'm really missing from 3.5 is the depth of source material to multiclass from. I haven't looked into multiclass much in 5e but obviously there's not a ton of material so far to pull from. It's hard to justify multiclassing out of Paladin when at level 20 I can sprout wings and fly...
  4. So I got to play the Halo 5 multiplayer beta. I'm not normally a console gamer but the Halo franchise is a console seller for me. I got my start with Halo on Combat Evolved PC (and even still play it), but obviously with no PC support beyond Halo 2 I've had to turn to console. Halo 5 is the most fun I've had with a console shooter for years. A lot of hardcore halo fans are complaining that new features take away from the classic Halo feel, but in my opinion they're just clinging at nostalgia and hindering the progress of the franchise. They can't just keep making the same halo game, so I think the new features like Sprint, clamber, and aim down sights are taking the game in a fresh new direction. Some may argue that they're just making the game more "CoD-like" but that's not entirely a bad thing. It's simply 343 taking new FPS mechanics that developers know are popular but doing them the Halo way. I love it. I certainly don't get a COD vibe from the game and I think the new features are great, and the game feels much more fast paced as a result. I've actually found going back to playing multiplayer on the Master Chief Collection painfully slow at times since playing the beta. I'm hoping to see Halo 5 make a return to the competitive scene. So, who else got the chance to play and what did you think?
  5. http://www.polygon.com/2015/2/2/7963995/sony-online-entertainment-sold-off-by-sony-renamed-daybreak-game This was a couple days ago, but I think it's an interesting discussion topic. I've played a bit of Planetside 2, and am absolutely excited about Everquest Next so i'm interested to see what happens. I have mixed feelings about SOE and their decisions regarding payment models so hopefully this is a change for the better. They've been catching a lot of flak about their decisions with H1Z1, but perhaps that was a result of pressure from Sony? We'll see how things play out.
  6. Moved thread to the playstation forum.
  7. Hello Everyone, With our first meeting coming up, we're asking everyone to bring their ideas for recruitment to the table. As a guild our efforts largely revolve around going to local events and conventions to recruit new gamers. We already have a pretty considerable list of ideas in place, but I would like this thread to be a way for people to give a heads up about anything they hear about. I will post a list of known events in this thread after our first meeting, but for those of you who can't make it and still would like to make a suggestion, please feel free to reply here and let us know. Include any information you have including whether or not you have any contact information for event organizers. If it's something gamers could be interested in, we want to know about it! Thanks! Steve Mathis Philadelphia Guild President
  8. Hey everybody, I know forum activity has been pretty lackluster so far, and although we're looking to get some more activity going here very shortly, I wanted to reach out to let everybody know about our guild meeting next week. Some of you might have received an email from our hospital coordinator, but if you haven't, this is your chance to come get involved. We're looking to get new guild members involved with our local recruitment efforts and would love to have you in attendance. If you are interested in coming, the information is as follows: When: Wednesday, February 11th from 6:30 - 8:30 Where: The CHOP Karabots Pediatric Care Center in West Philadelphia Address: 4865 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19139 Parking will be comped for those who have to drive! If you have any additional questions, feel free to post here or email me at SteveMathis91@gmail.com. Thanks, Steve Mathis Philadelphia Guild President
  9. Thank you so much everyone! I was extremely proud of what we were able to produce in a short amount time. I owe a big thank you to everyone who was involved in the production progress, and an even bigger thank you to those who helped spread the word. Mike and Trevor really gave me a run for my money and the last couple hours were truly nerve-racking. I'm very much looking forward to the celebration in Orlando! Thanks again everybody!
  10. Hey everybody! To keep the number of posts down, let's use this thread for new and returning player introductions. Tell us a little about yourself, and how you came to get involved with ExtraLife. We'd love to know what you're playing, and if you're streaming feel free to link your stream and share any tips you have. If you're looking to get more involved with the Philadelphia Guild, keep your eye out for meeting date/time announcements.
  11. Hello Fellow Extra-Lifers! My name is Steve Mathis and I'm one of the officers from the Philadelphia Guild. I just wanted to get a post up real quick so that this forum seems slightly less empty. Stay tuned to this post and this forum for information about local events, and getting involved with both the Guild, and Extra Life as a whole. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is an an incredible facility, and i'm proud to be a part of this cause. Let me formally welcome new players, and returning ExtraLifers, and I look forward to meeting and working with everyone in the future!
