    The People's Flea

    until
Greetings one and all! We've been granted a spot at this year's 6th Annual People's Flea in conjunction 105.7 The X benefiting the Susquehanna Service Dogs. The event info is below and the reasoning for this post is to try and draw some attention from the guild as well as try and coordinate some kind of pooling of items for sale. Since we are a gaming organization, I figure we could try and sell some old games we might have laying around, old consoles, controllers, board games, etc. If you would like to donate it to the guild (money from it goes into our collective guild total) please contact either myself, Jimmy @GotSka81, Ryan @standardeviant42 or Alecia for more information. When: April 23rd (Saturday) Where: 430 Colonial Rd Harrisburg, PA When: 7am to noon (set up is at 6am) Why: This will be a great place to try and recruit, as well as raise some funds!
  2. ATTENTION ALL GUILD MEMBERS! Alecia Panuski has brought to my attention that CMN has a present for us! They have graciously given 20 tickets to our guild for the Hershey Bears game this Sunday, the 15th, including food in the Coco's Den part room! The tickets are first come, first serve, so get in touch with me if you'd like to reserve yours. You can pick up tickets by meeting me in front of the arena entrance at 3pm, before the game. If you need to get the tickets another time, please contact me and we'll work something out. We realize this is sort of late notice, but hope you can all attend! Details: Hershey Bears vs. Rochester Americans Sunday, November 15th Food: 3:30-5pm behind section 102 in Coco's Den party room. Game Time: 5pm Thanks Alecia! Edit: There are only 20 tickets available, and 5 of them are already spoken for, so get them while you can! -Jimmy El Presidente
  3. Busy life is busy. Sorry guys, I'm late to the party here. I read through the comments and I think we have a solid start. I don't think we need a ton of events, because I agree with Jon that some of these things will be multi-hour events. Here's what I've got so far from the schedule, etc: 10:00am: Retro Game Time - Kick off with the announcement of the high-score challenge for a TBD arcade game. We will need to work out details with Play and Trade to determine if we can get donations from the money that will go into the machine, and also if the high scores can be cleared. If the scores cannot be cleared, then we will need to keep track. Winner gets a TBD prize. I'm thinking the prizes should somehow reflect the contest that is won, however, Ryan has pointed out that we should get rid of the X360s ASAP. 1:00pm - Racing Game Time - Kicked off with the Mario Kart 8 Tournament. Winner gets a TBD prize (X360? Copy of Mario Kart 8?). 8:00pm - Fighting Game Time - Kick off with Smash Bros Tournament. Winner gets a TBD prize (X360? Copy of Smash Bros?) 2:00am - Home Stretch Dance/Music Time - Have an area set up for Just Dance, DDR, Party Central. Maybe have a Guitar Hero tournament? Winner wins a prize, and all that? We could give away a pre-order of Guitar Hero Live? I think we could use one or two more tournaments/events, but I also think a lot of people will want to just stick to their own games. Having the Minecraft Server available, maybe a Bingo game or two sprinkled throughout, stuff like that...I think will be plenty.
  4. OFFICIAL RESCHEDULE: We will meeting on Thursday, 9/24. Oh hai! As I previously mentioned, the meeting is going to be moved to Thursday this month. Please plan accordingly! Date & Time: Thursday, September 24th @ 6:30pm Location: Penn State Hershey Medical Center Children's Hospital Conference Room P1100/P1100A 500 University Dr. Hershey, PA 17033 Parking: Parking is available at the Centerview parking garage, located beside the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. Parking is free at this garage. Snacks are welcome, especially if you bring something for the group. 'Sup players? Due to a scheduling conflict I will be unable to hold our September meeting on the last Friday of this month, the 25th. Rather than cancel the meeting, I would like to suggest we move the meeting to the day before, Thursday the 24th. The time would remain the same, 6:30pm, as would the location. Please chime in and let us know if this works for everyone. If it does not, we will still have the meeting on the 25th, but I will call in to the conference phone.
  5. UPDATE: The weather looks clear for now, so we're going to proceed as planned. That said, the weather may still take a turn for the worse, so our current plan is to attend as normal, and if it looks like it's going to rain (or does rain) we will pack it up. I will update as necessary, but otherwise I'll see you soon!
  6. As many of you may know, we have had a recent change to the leadership committee. Ed Sulzer has stepped down from his position and Ryan Volker will now be the Guild Secretary. Our heartfelt thanks go to Ed for the time he committed to Extra Life this year, and also to Ryan for stepping up and filling his shoes!
  7. Another event is upon us! We will be attending FoodStruck in York, PA to promote Extra Life and try to get some sign ups. The event details are as follows: Where: Penn Park in York, PA. (Parking details are below) When: September 6th. Setup is from 10am to 11am, the event is from 11am to 6pm, and tear down is from 6pm to 7pm. This is going to be a pretty sweet event, and frankly I think I would be there even if I wasn't going with the guild. Even if you can only commit to an hour or two, then walk around the even with family/friends, we would love to have you! Let me know if you have any questions/comments/concerns and I will get back to you ASAP. Please keep your eyes open for notifications if you are planning to attend, as I will send out as many as I can.
  9. I would say that being there is really the only thing that is required. Pants and bells are recommended, but ultimately optional.
  10. Come join us for our August (Not September. Silly @GotSka81) Guild meeting! It's getting down to the last few weeks before the big day, but it's never too late to get involved! 12. *EDIT* Event start time has been changed from 12pm to 5pm. Event Info Name: First Friday Location: Outside of Commonwealth on Queen Cafe in Lancaster, PA (301 N Queen St, Lancaster, PA 17603) Date: 8/7/2015 (This Friday!) Time: 5pm-9pm (depending on foot traffic) Why: First friday is a big deal in Lancaster city. TONS of people will be out just wandering the streets viewing art, eating in restaurants, and taking part in all kinds of activities. Commonwealth on Queen is having a beer tasting, for example! This is a great opportunity for us to tap into the Lancaster area and raise awareness for Extra Life! Who: Anyone who wants to attend! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As we discussed at the June meeting, First Friday is upon us. I have made arrangements for us to be on the sidewalk outside of Commonwealth on Queen Cafe, which is in a great place for getting optimal foot traffic. I know a few of you had expressed interest, but I'd like to get some solid commitments so I know who to expect and when to expect them. I will be there all day manning the table, but could certainly use some company! I think having 2-4 people at the stand would be best. I understand a part of the event is during work hours and it's tough to take time off for these events, but any time we can give (even after work) is really appreciated. If you have any questions/comments/etc please don't hesitate to contact me via facebook, text, email, etc. Please leave a comment below if you can attend!
