  3. In an effort to help neighboring Extra Life guilds collaborate more effectively, we will be holding a "Joint Extra Life Guild Meeting" for any Extra Life guild member who can attend. The meeting will start at 2pm with an "Open Leadership Meeting," and then transition into a "General Guild Meeting" around 3pm. The meeting location is currently The Board and Brew in College Park, MD. This establishment has food, drinks and (of course) board games! So come join us on Sunday, February 22, to learn, discuss, collaborate, eat and play games… #ForTheKids!!! You can R.S.V.P on Facebook, here: https://www.facebook.com/events/346103022242790/
  4. Hello! I'm Aladdin. This year (2014) is my first year participating as an Extra Life fundraiser. I'm grateful to have found such a welcoming and inspiring community, and for the opportunity to collaborate with such awesome people for this awesome cause. I was born and raised in the DC Metropolitan area, I'm happily married to my wife (Denyse) and we are excitedly expecting a baby girl in December (Aladdin + Denyse = Alyse). I'm primarily a PC gamer, I play a wide variety of games and I regularly broadcast live on Twitch.tv (http://Twitch.tv/MrGlasco). I'm excited for the continued growth of Extra Life, and I'm looking forward to the community experiences and content yet to come. I have some expertise with graphic design, illustration and audio/video editing; and I'm currently working on my community management, blogging and writing skills through my efforts broadcasting on Twitch.tv and my own website, MrGlasco.tv (http://MrGlasco.tv). Otherwise, you can most easily find me (MrGlasco) on Twitter and Steam.
  5. In light of the recent success of the ALS "Ice Bucket Challenge," a few community members and I have been trying to come up with an Extra Life challenge that is worthy and relevant to our cause. I believe that accepting a challenge is in our nature as gamers, and because of this there is a lot of potential in a challenge driven donation/awareness campaign. On one hand, a challenge already exists within the 24-hour gaming commitment that Extra Life registrants make. On the other hand, I also believe that it is important to challenge everyone that we recruit/register to take on a leadership role in their community (i.e. as a local guild member, team captain and etc.). However, both of these challenges seem to be missing an element to go viral outside of our own community. One idea that is showing some potential is a challenge for gamers to record or otherwise document themselves permanently deleting progress that they have made in a game (i.e. MMO/tabletop character reset, saved game deletion, leader board statistics purge and etc.), then nominating other gamers to do the same in lieu of a donate & registration. The fun part of this challenge is that even if someone deletes any significant amount of gaming progress, then Extra Life's 24-hour gaming marathon is a perfect way to recover what has been lost. We have not come up with a name for the challenge, yet. Does anyone have any similar ideas or suggestions for this idea?
