TwitchCon has come and gone leaving all of us with unforgettable memories and marking some impressive achievements for the Extra Life community. Thousands of TwitchCon attendees descended upon the San Diego Convention Center and were exposed to Extra Life. Hundreds flocked to the booth and the human claw machine to sign up to support their local hospital. It was an incredibly moving experience that left everyone involved with memories that will last for years to come. The Human Claw Machine represented a major part of Extra Life's presence at TwitchCon 2019. A giant contraption capable of lifting attendees and lowering them into a pit full of mystery prizes, it definitely drew a crowd of both experienced Extra Lifers and curious newbies. One of the people who stopped by was Ryan from Flocker.tv, one of Extra Life's sponsors. Ryan has five years of Extra Life under his belt and raises funds for The Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, a place that gave him a life-saving heart surgery when he was a kid. He was one of the people who helped make Extra Life North a resounding success, too! While we were at TwitchCon, it was an honor for our Community Director, Lou Adducci, to appear as a guest in an interview on Cheddar Esports, a live gaming news show that airs on Twitch. You can catch the segment on Twitter and hear Lou talk about how amazing The Human Claw Machine is in person. As part of a collaboration with Astro Gaming, Extra Life gave away codes for Astro's line of headsets. Winners were sent emails with codes and a link to use when redeeming the headsets online. If you were one of the lucky winners and are having trouble with either receiving your code or its redemption, our support team has a few steps to follow: If you won and haven't been able to locate your code, check your spam folder. Unfortunately, some of our notifications to winners have gotten stuck in the spam folder. If the code hasn't been caught by the spam filter, please reach out via email to support@extra-life.org. We'll have someone look into your issue as fast as we can. If you have your code and are encountering difficulty in redeeming your prize, support@extra-life.org should be your go-to solution. In your email, include the email address you gave to the redemption kiosk, the code in question, the URL they are using to redeem their prize, and a description of the issue. Thank you to all of our partners for helping us to give our community an unforgettable TwitchCon experience and bring even more people to the cause. It was incredible seeing everyone working together to bring Extra Life to as many people as possible. Let's keep going forward and gaming For The Kids! Don't forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!

Victoria Enmon was an amazing little girl. She demonstrated love and compassion to others around her as much as she possibly could. Whether being thrown into the air at cheer leading practice or battling cancer, she never stopped supporting the people whose lives she touched. In the words of her parents, Vic and Jo Ellen Enmon, she flew. Today would have been Victoria's 27th birthday. "She wasn't afraid of heights. In fact, she wasn't really afraid of anything." - Jo Ellen Enmon At a little over 11 years old, Victoria was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and it would be something she fought for the rest of her life. While she battled her condition, undergoing multiple transplants and treatments, she never let it break her spirits. Even while sick, Extra Life's founder, Jeromy "Doc" Adams recalls her as "the kind of kid you could hear coming before long before she got to your soundproof studio." It also never stopped her from giving all of herself over to helping people without hesitation. At Camp Periwinkle, a summer camp for children with cancer, one of her doctors holds onto the memory of her helping another girl suffering from both cystic fibrosis and cancer. That little girl needed extra help to get ready to experience camp each day, and throughout that week Victoria came to help. Victoria made sure that her fellow camper would get to have an unforgettable camp experience. No one asked her to, she just did it. As she entered what would be her final stay in a hospital, Jeromy Adams began working with Sarcastic Gamer to get her some games to help her pass the time during her treatments. The overwhelming response consisted of more games than her family could handle. Of course, Victoria started giving them away to other kids in the hospital. That impulse to give everything to those around her, that was just the kind of person she was. "You know, here she is, lying up in bed tubes connected to her. She didn't go and cry about it or bemoan her situation. She went around to all these other kids to make them feel better. I think that's really the legacy of her." - Vic Enmon From 11 years old until 15 years old, Victoria never stopped fighting, not even when she contracted a fungal infection due to her compromised immune system. She passed away on January 21, 2008, finally resting from her battle against leukemia, failed transplants, and infections. But that's not the end of her story. To keep her spirit alive and make sure that everyone knows how amazing she was, Jeromy Adams started Extra Life that same year. On october 13, 2008, over 1,200 people showed up to support children like Victoria. It has grown every year since and has now raised over $50 million to help sick and injured kids across the United States and Canada. One of Victoria's last wishes was to see Christmas lights. The final time he saw her, Victoria, her parents, and Jeromy all stepped outside to see the lights glow in the dark. "We were only outside for about 10 minutes. There wasn't a lot of talking. We just looked at lights," Jeromy remembers. Victoria isn't gone. She's become like those lights, shining brightly in the dark, touching more lives with comfort and love with each passing year. She's able to do that through all of us working to keep that fearless and caring spirit alive. Happy birthday Victoria. We're doing our best. For The Kids

I joined Extra Life 3 years ago on a whim just to see if I could do the 24 hour gaming challenge. After that game day I got a message to join the local guild. I did that and from there found the twitch side of EL. I applied to become a mod and have met so many incredible people and have accomplished alot. It's done wonders for my mental health alone. But then last november I learned about Maddox. Maddox was a local teenager who had terminal cancer and wanted to do his own "game day stream" to help raise money. His goal was to be remembered as a champion and not just another kid with cancer. I, with the help of guild president Richard Moser (Yinz all know him, haha), got him up and running on Twitch. Along with the help of several other Extra-Lifers we were able to help Maddox raise over $16k, a record for our hospital. On my game day I had a donation incentive to get an Extra Life tattoo. Mid January Maddox bravely lost his fight and I knew what I wanted my tattoo to be. Maddox is why I Extra Life now. His Twitch name was MadGhost0821. AshleyAwoww, a stream team member, was the one who drew this up and I just got it on Friday.

Hey Jeff! Welcome! as a Canadian guild leader (from the Ottawa guild!), please let me assure you that Extra Life and DonorDrive have heard our pleas for more Canadian dollar friendliness! we’re also working with DonorDrive on various ideas we’d love to have implemented. it’s still early days for incentives and milestones, but they’ve confirmed they’re working on things and open to feedback and suggestions! If you haven’t already, please join us on Discord! There’s a channel dedicated to DonorDrive, with direct access to their team! Take your list of ideas over there, and they’ll add them to the growing list to visit. I know one of the issues is getting both currencies to play together nicely, which is why we’re limited in this gradual roll out. https://discord.gg/extralife4kids should let you hop right in! Regarding completing your profile: it should allow you to select your corresponding hospital foundation - I was able to select mine. If not, send an email to support@extra-life dot org so they can take a look (you may get a response in here about that sooner, but it is the second day after Game Day so it may be quiet for a wee bit). Cheers, kavmac

I need to have my donation page restored by the tech support crew, but the response said that I will get an answer in 2-3 business days. I would like to resume streaming today if I could so can my donation page be restored sooner than that please?

First of all Welcome! We're glad you've made your way here and want to support the IWK through Extra Life. Second of all, we mostly don't use these forums (as you can see by the rampant activity). I'd like to direct you to where you can reach us if you want to. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ExtraLifeHalifax/ Discord: https://discord.gg/cBgJ58D Twitter and Instagram @extralifehfx Sorry for any confusion in you ending up here, but I promise we're out there, raising money for the sick tiny hoomans in the Maritimes, forums are just...not our thing. As Game Day approaches, it can become easy to feel overwhelmed. Here are the 12 things to do before Game Day to make sure you are in the best shape to raise the most money for the kids that you can. Do all of the things on this pre-Game Day checklist and you will be a few steps ahead of the pack when the gaming starts this Saturday! 1. Facebook Fundraisers One of the most helpful tools for grassroots fundraising has been Facebook Fundraisers. On average, people who launch Facebook Fundraisers are able to raise $150 USD more than those who don't. We whipped up some step-by-step instructions on how to go about getting one of your own set up! 2. Download the App One of the small things you can do to increase your fundraising reach is downloading the iOS or Android Extra Life app. On average, we see people who have downloaded and used the app raise 6% more than those who leave that tool unused. 3. Check for Matching Donations Many employers offer matching donations for employee fundraising efforts. Before Game Day, check in with your company's Human Resources department to see if they offer employer matching. If they do, try to take advantage of that offer for your marathon fundraising. It's an easy way to double the amount of good you're doing for your local kids! 4. Make the First Donation One of the most important factors in fundraising is momentum. People are far more likely to donate to a cause when they see that others have done the same. If you make the first donation to your own fundraiser, you can add a bit of momentum all by yourself. Getting into that habit can help you raise up to ten times more for the kids! 5. Social Media Graphics Posts on social media are more effective when paired with videos or images. If you aren't sure what images to add to your posts, dip into our publicly available Media Kit to find graphics that are suited to your needs! 6. Share Our Call to Action If you have a social media presence, please share this video to help get as many people into Game Day as possible! Being able to put faces to the kids we are all collectively working to help can go a long way toward helping you raise more money and surpassing last year's record-setting Game Day. 7. Study Up on Streaming If you are new to streaming or need to brush up on the basics, we've got a beginner's guide to streaming that will help you cover the basics of how to set up a stream from scratch, let people know you're streaming, and raise money from your stream. Perhaps most helpfully, the guide also walks newbies through the process of creating a stream bot to help all of those things come together during streams. 8. Streaming Overlays Theme your stream for Game Day with Extra Life overlays! These are a collection of graphics that go over the screen to effectively brand your stream as an Extra Life fundraiser. Let the world know you're gaming for good on Game Day! 9. Livestream Extensions We have a new Twitch Extension out now that will help connect your stream with your current fundraising status. This will help both you and your viewers keep tabs on your progress toward your goal as well as your top donors! It's a helpful tool to have in your back pocket, so we put together a handy guide to setting it up: 10. Upgrade to Platinum An easy way to both support Extra Life and earn yourself some fun swag is by upgrading your account to Platinum status. Platinum Extra Lifers earn limited edition stickers for raising $75 USD, a t-shirt at $200 USD, a silver medal at $500 USD, and a gold medal at $1,000 USD. Make sure you upgrade ASAP! 11. Use Milestone and Incentives Feature One of our newest features this year is the ability to add milestones and incentives to your fundraising goal. We know that often large goals mean having many smaller milestones. Well, now you can add those milestone markers to your Extra Life profile to show everyone else where your smaller goals stack up. Each milestone can be paired with an incentive if you so wish. This can be a really fun way of breaking up an ambitious goal into more digestible chunks. 12. Shoot for GFuel If you decide that upgrading your account to Platinum isn't doable, you can still raise money and earn fun swag! Every Extra Life participant in 2019 will receive a free GFuel shaker if they reach $100 USD. There are many great incentives out there for reaching fundraising goals for the various teams and super teams that will be participating in Game Day, so look around and find what might make your Game Day even more swagtacular. Today is Canadian Thanksgiving, a day for celebrating accomplishments and being thankful for the blessings of the past year. We wanted to take a minute to celebrate the amazing things the Extra Life community has helped accomplish across Canada in just the last month or so. It has been incredible watching Extra Life's partners and dedicated participants come together to raise awareness, shatter fundraising goals, and even help start entirely new hospitals. This year, we are thankful for all of you. Thank you! DreamHack Montreal - September 6-8 DreamHack Montreal kicked off an amazing month for Extra Life in Canada. The competitive gaming event brought together gamers from across all of Canada as well as a large number from the United States. The event was generous enough to provide Extra Life with two booth spaces, one for streamers to raise money for local hospitals and another to talk with attendees throughout the weekend. Streamers took shifts at the booth that varied between 4 -24 hours. Hospital Champion, Jean-Gilles, attended the final two days of DreamHack with his mom, playing new games, interviewing streamers, and chatting with Extra Lifers. In total, the amazing efforts of Extra Lifers at DreamHack Montreal were able to raise over $14,000 CND (over $10,000 USD) for local kids. Extra Life North - September 7-8 The same weekend as DreamHack Montreal, Extra Lifers from across central Canada descended upon Winnipeg to participate in Extra Life North, a weekend-long fundraiser to help the kids in the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. Numerous organizations worked with local Extra Lifers to pull the event together, particularly Bold Commerce, Flocker, and RBC. The event was attended by several Miracle Children, local celebrities, and Canadian Olympians. In total, the event raised over $73,000 CND (over $50,000 USD) for the kids of Manitoba. First Patient Day at Jim Pattison Children's Hospital - September 29 Jim Pattison Children's Hospital opened its doors to the very first kids in need of treatment late last month. That tremendous occasion, which was made possible with the support of partners like Extra Life, marked the first time patients in the province had access to a dedicated maternal and children's hospital. The facility provides tailored care to the needs of babies, kids, and moms who come from across Saskatchewan for help. Hospitals can be scary for kids, so Jim Pattison Children's Hospital has been built to be as friendly and welcoming as possible to its youngest patients. We here at Extra Life are so proud to have been able to play a small part in making JPCH into a reality. Photos from the event were taken by Lisa Landrie - A Photogenic Life. Extra Life Ottawa Summit - October 5 Extra Life guild members in Ottawa were able to partner with their local Marriott Hotel to put together their own gaming event earlier this month! Extra Life Ottawa Summit created a free play area where attendees could enjoy both tabletop and video games while taking in the expansive views from the space the hotel was able to provide. Those who attended the event had a fantastic time gaming, networking, and taking in the event itself. There are currently plans in motion to grow the event for next year while working with the wonderful people at the Ottawa Marriott. Don't forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!

Hello! I'm writing this because I would like some feedback. I'm still new to the whole Extra Life thing and I'm forced to work under some restrictions. A little about myself first! I met my wife because of Extra Life and because of that I'm very thankful for this platform. She inspired me to get involved, so in the past I served more as a cheerleader in the background cheering her on. Earlier this year, I helped as she completed one of her incentives (she ate the world's hottest chocolate while being interviewed about Extra Life). While I still want to be her cheerleader, pom poms and all, I also want to contribute. Which bring us to the restriction... My wife and I live in Mississippi... rural Mississippi at that. As a result, internet options are limited. Streaming just isn't an option where we live and while we would love to one day move to a place with better internet so we can stream, it just isn't feasible at this time. Instead, we've opted to explore different routes to promote Extra Life. My wife has a blog (GamerReverie) and a YouTube channel (same name). I've also started a YouTube channel (PrepareToIndie). Since late last week, I've made it my goal to post videos daily (except for Sunday because that's when we work with the church youth). I want to use my YouTube channel to promote Extra Life but I'm not sure how to grow my channel so that I can use it in such a way. Last week, I started releasing my "I love you, Colonel Sanders" Let's Play, as well as a collaborative project (w/ my wife) where we play the cooperative puzzle game, Tick Tock: A Tale for Two. I also started releasing videos for my Code Vein Let's Play. So, let's get down to brass tacks... here's what I'm asking you good folks for... A.) What kind of content (gaming content) would you watch a channel for? At the present moment I'm only doing Let's Play's. B.) Do you have any advice on how to grow the channel - I know content is king - hence question #1? C.) Do you think YouTube can be effectively leveraged to promote Extra Life?

PrepareToIndie is my husband, and I've been so happy to see him take a bigger interest in Extra Life this year! Even if you don't have any direct advice or a response to his post here, it'd mean a lot to both of us if you gave us a follow on our channels! Hey folks! I am really excited to be bringing Pinball into the mix this year with a pinball tournament on Extra Life play day, November 2nd! This will be my 10th year taking part in Extra LIfe and now that I play pinball primarily, it only felt right to run a pinball event for Extra Life. Location: Pinball Gallery - 81 Lancaster Avenue - Malvern, PA Tournament Overview Tournament Date: November 02, 2019 The first ever Roller Rumble will occur November 2nd, where players will be asked to submit scores across a selection of 4 games from the games available. Players will be allowed to play more than one card but must complete the card they are working on before beginning another. The venue is none other than Pinball Gallery, located in Malvern, PA and will be open to the public if seats are still available for the tournament. With more than 70 games at the location, there will be a nice selection of games included in the tournament, and other games available to be played during any downtime. Price for pre-registration will be $30, which will cover the cost of full-day admittance to Pinball Gallery, entry into the tournament and your first qualifying card. Games will be set to free play, so no coin drop will be required. The top 16 players will then take part in a 1 game, 3 round playoff to determine the winner. Prizes will be rewarded to all players making the playoffs, with the winner earning the Roller Rumble Championship belt, a beautifully built replica belt designed by Undisputed Belts. All profits from the tournament will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network via the Extra Life charity livestream marathon taking place that day. We hope to see you there! If you see this, are in the Philadelphia area, and wish to take part, I will begin accepting pre-registrations soon. Any questions? email habermanstephenATGmail

Meeting Minutes from April 6 2019 Upcoming Events: April 12th - 13th Cecil Con April 26th-28th Awesomecon May 4th Free Comic Book Day Members in Attendance: 17 New Topics: We have new buttons guys they are awesome if you haven't seen them yet have a look here: Signup Pin Donate Pin Silver Pin Let us know if you like them! Mike is building us a new wheel (Yay Mike!) in the meantime we do have a new rainbow wheel so this means in the future we will have two wheels to work with when planning events! There will be a new form on Timecounts for equipment sign out, Artem our amazing quartermaster will be checking this. If you want to have something for a local event you will use this form to request/sign-out whatever you need here. You will need to place address in so Artem may bring equipment to you - please remember this is first come first serve and convention events get first dibs During this meeting we discussed the importance of Table setup and having a good Pitch. When setting up your table first thing you will do is place table cloth down (at the end of the day most items can be stored under the table the table cloth will help conceal these things) try and center the logo when placing the cloth down it should fit well on most 6 to 8 foot tables Unpack the 3 large and 2 Medium clear baskets and place them in the center of the table, placing the wheel and a display case on either side of the baskets. These items will help draw in people, the wheel especially! Front baskets get candy and the back baskets get bracelets and pins. Setup the Extra life Banner next to the table placement is key so make sure you still have a view of the room and people still have a view of you. (This banner as of right now has a bit of misinformation that can scare people off "Stream for 24 hours" that 24 hour part can scare people so do not forget in your pitch to include that it can be done in any time frame!) Please remember for the wheel one spin only! Take any prizes/swag we are giving away and place them in the display case (Please note not every convention will have raffles/giveaways) do try to tailor items in box for the event this will help gain more interest! Place the donation jar on the table within reach and in a place you may keep an eye on in please remember that not all conventions will allow donations at the table. If the convention does allow donations at the start of the day slip a few bills/change into the jar this will encourage people to donate. If you are at a event where we are not allowed to take donations at the table and someone wishes to give cash there, take the money and safely tuck it away into the lock-box. (this should be kept under the table in the blue bin) or open your extra life page and have them donate electronically there! Tablets are used for sign up make sure these are charged during the event! (Remember to lock these up at night.) Keep track of signups! Using not only a paper tally of sign ups but the clicker as well! (the clicker is fun seriously! give it a try!) If you have room on your table depending on the size place out the pamphlet stands! We have two types of pamphlets one that goes over Participation and Volunteering! Make sure to place out the Participation one! (They look really similar.) They Grey stand includes all items you may need during the event promotional materials, markers, raffle tickets, guild information Tips for Pitching: Greet everyone when they pass by some people will say hello, smile and keep walking, some will have ignored you, some people will be off in their own world. It is important to keep a smile on your face no matter how many grumpy gusses ignore your friendly hello. When someone does show interest (usually in the wheel) ask if they know about extra life - explain if they seem interested! Remember try not to say it is 24 hour stream, that length of time can scare people away. A good example would be "One day a year where gamers of all kinds, video, table top, board games, sports, you name it, stream, play, record for a cause. Some people go that entire 24 hours but me myself and a few friends break it down to 4 hours. The fundraising doesn't even have to be all in one day, anyone can donate to your extra life page at any time throughout the year." Best tip of all: wear comfortable shoes we do not always have enough chairs for everyone to sit, so make sure your shoes are comfortable for standing for long periods, as well as a pitch tends to go better and feel more comfortable when you are at eye level with the person/persons you are speaking with. Hope to see all of you May 11th at CrabTowne 1500 Crain Hwy S, Glen Burnie, MD 21061 12pm to 3pm for our next ExtraLife meeting!

As part of our annual induction ceremony, Extra Life Baltimore Guild members and volunteers take the following pledge upon receiving their volunteer badge for the year: "Upon accepting this badge, I pledge to dedicate myself to supporting the mission of Extra Life. I promise to serve as a role model to the gaming community, and as a friend to my fellow Guild Members. I promise to conduct myself in a manner that honors the sick and injured children we help and the memory of those we couldn’t." Our Officers, in all their glory and sacrifice, take an additional oath before taking office: "As a steward of the Extra Life Baltimore Guild, I pledge to support my guild members to the best of my ability. I promise to conduct myself with professionalism and respect when I am representing the guild." I'm so moved by the dedication of our volunteer team, and I'm excited that we're able to continue to build new traditions as we grow each year. Thank you to everyone who took our Guild Pledge in the February Elections, Awards, and Induction Ceremony. We couldn't do this without you! You are a saint, sir. All I really want every year are the text files so that I can change how they look to suit my design. So many of the other apps available force design/colour/font choices on me. Edit: I'm sorry but I'm not educated enough to run this application. I downloaded that Node program but it's just a command prompt? I don't understand anything I'm looking at in that zip package. Update: MajorLinux helped me, it turns out I had to use the command prompt in Windows to run this, Notepad to edit in my Extra Life participant ID. It works, thanks again! Update: I also figured out how to edit the file so it spits out team info instead of participant, which was my ultimate goal! Replace user ID with team ID, then edit a couple lines of code so it points to the teams directory instead of the participant directory.

It's a really cool piece of tech, and if anyone out there is looking for said groups, a bunch of them are listed in the article I linked.
