Gaming News:Skull & Bones Takes Team Based Multiplayer To The High Seas

With Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Ubisoft has proven it knows how to craft a good pirate game, specifically in regards to naval combat. The publisher is taking that know-how to the next level with Skull and Bones, a new IP that pits teams of players against each other in open seas warfare during the height of the Golden Age of Piracy.

Skull & Bones' conflicts are waged in the Indian Ocean. Teams of five compete against each other in explosive ship battles with the winners determined by whoever emerges with the most loot once the dust settles. Different vessels boast specific advantages, such as reinforced hulls or battering rams that devastate ships in close quarter combat. Taking into account your ships strengths and weaknesses, as well as the weather conditions can make all the difference in deciding the pirate that wins the day.

Cooperation with your comrades is also key. In the trailer, the arrival of pirate hunters, formidable AI units that target the wealthiest ship, prompted one player to sacrifice their ship by ramming it into a pirate hunter, allowing the vessel bearing the treasure to escape.

Players can recruit their own crew members, assign captains, and customize their ships to their liking. Either alone or with friends, they can raid a large open world and take on opposing players in several multiplayer modes. You can look for Skull & Bones to release next fall for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Actually excited about this one as everybody get's their own ship instead of yet another 'everybody man a station' scenario game.
