In honor of the 40th anniversary of Space Invaders, Taito and Degica Games are bringing the critically acclaimed revival of the series to PC for the first time. Space Invaders Extreme released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS and Sony's PSP to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Space Invaders. It also received a port to the Xbox Live Arcade the following year.
The new version for PC will have some improvements over the version that has been available for the past decade. Revamped graphics go without saying, but an improved sound and synchronization system means that the visuals will be more on point than the previous iteration. For a game heavily focused on rhythm, that improvement stands out as a big one. Players will be able to compete on the leaderboards with people from around the world via the World Ranking System. It also features new tracks from artists Zuntata and Cosio.
Space Invaders Extreme will be launching on February 12 for PC.
