Much like last year's E3, Nintendo has opted out of a live stage presentation in favor of what it has dubbed a "Digital Event."
One might assume that digital event is PR speak for a longer Nintendo Direct, but Nintendo hasn't exactly confirmed what this event will be like. This could be taken as Nintendo trying to distance itself from the competition and taking a safer position. On the one hand they'll probably be able to avoid PR nightmares like what happened for Microsoft last year when Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 would be $100 cheaper and poked fun at Microsoft's used game policies. On the other hand they also won't be able to reap the benefits of lording features and prices over the competition.
Whether this will be good or bad for the Big N remains to be seen, but one thing is abundantly clear: Their announcement video with Mega64 is awesome.
What do you think about Nintendo foregoing a press conference event? Good, bad, or ugly?
