  1. It's that time of year again!! MomoCon 2016 was one of the best recruitment events we've had in the history of the Atlanta Guild, and this year is going to be even better!! For the first time not only will we be recruiting new members at the event, but we will also be actively taking donations at the event, a much requested change from last year. As before, those who volunteer to work a shift (no more than 5 hours max per shift), will receive a free full 4-day badge to the event so that you can experience all the Con has to offer when you are not manning the Extra Life booth. That includes access to all areas of the event including: Gaming Hall, Expo Hall, Main and sub stages, panels, classes and much more!! The only extra cost is for lodging, meals, souvenirs, and the Final Fantasy Orchestra concert. Another big change for this year, rather than just a table in the general organizations area, we are now part of the official MomoCon Charity Row section, complete with our own 10' x 10' booth!! We've got some great plans for the space, and I will be sharing those as we get closer to the event. If you are interest in volunteering, please click the link below to access the sign up sheet. Please fill in as much info as possible so we have a way to contact you during the event. Also, this is a first come first served event, and we have a limited number of passes available (16), so if you are interested you should sign up sooner rather than later! I will be onsite again throughout the event, and I look forward to working with everyone. Let's make this year's event the best yet!!! Volunteer Sign Up Page:
  2. RavenCon 12 is April 28-30th at the DoubleTree in Williamsburg, VA. This year we have 3 badges available to those willing to offer some time to work the Extra-Life table. This is a great recruitment opportunity. There's lots of gamers in the community that attend this convention and need to hear about Extra-Life. The badges will go to the first 3 people who offer to work the table for at least 4 hours during the convention. They can be split into two chunks of two hours if preferred. More would be greatly appreciated but make sure to enjoy yourself at the convention as well. The hours that need coverage are listed below, so claim whatever time you can. First come, first serve. Friday: 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. We're looking to maximize coverage so please try to minimize overlap when scheduling time. Already headed to RavenCon and can't do 4 hours? You're still welcome to spend some time at the table and help out. Reply to this thread (or to the e-mail coming soon) if you're looking to cover any table time so we can give you the details you need about materials and badges. Lastly, thanks to Jillian for helping us get this table.

Hello Atlanta Guild! Welcome to 2017 and our first event of the year will be with Final Round 20 March 10th-12th. Final Round is a gaming tournament with participants from all over the world meeting here in Atlanta for a chance at prize money and bragin' rights! This is a three day event filled with action and ladder style game play with such titles as: Street Fighter V (PS4), Super Smash Bros. (WiiU), Ultimate Marvel v.s Capcom 3 (PS4), and King of Fighters 14 (PS4) just to name a few, check out the link above to see the complete list of Official Games for the tournament line up. FR20 has 889 registered participants this year for both team and individual game play so this will make for some intense tournaments! Extra Life Atlanta Guild will have a table in the Vendor Area and 6 spectator badges for the weekend. I would like to see Volunteers donate 2-4 hours of their time at the table while at the event but then your free to take in the sites. Here is a list of times that will need to be covered. Friday. March 10th: Noon - 8 pm - Kent Huffman 12 pm - 4 pm, Saturday March 11th: Noon - 8 pm - Sunday March 12: Noon - 4 pm - Again the spectator badges are covered the table is covered, the only out of pocket expense will be for parking and food & beverages. This event is at the Georgia International Convention Center near the Airport (College Park) at 2000 Convention Center Concourse, Atlanta, GA 30337, USA. Parking is 10$/day or 24$/weekend (Fri - Sun). There will be food vendors on site for you eating and drinking enjoyment so bring some cash for nourishment! With that said, please reply to this topic if your interested in volunteering for Final Round 20 with the day/s and time/s you are available to be at the table!
  4. I saw this article today and thought it might be a good way to recruit as well as fund raise. The basic gist is you have a dinner party and ask that people contribute towards Extra Life what they would have spent going out to dinner. Throw in some before or after dinner board games and it might work well for recruitment as well. Has anyone here ever tried anything like this?
  5. Hello everyone! Our hospital advisors have asked us for ideas for giveaways (all would be customized with logos). They would like to order some for us to have at events as incentives for signing up and to help spread the word. We discussed some ideas at our meeting last night, but I wanted to put this out there to the community to see if anyone else had any ideas of things that worked/didn't work. Our ideas were: USB wall/car chargers Custom dice / dice bags (our friends at The Malted Meeple got info for us about dice) Foam swords (this one was popular at a local KidsFest event) Lanyards Buttons In the past, we've had: Foam boomerangs Pencils (not terribly popular, but cheap) Pens Color-changing cups (temperature) Folding phone stands Keychains
  6. Hey all - I've been working on a little handout that can act as a quick start guide for anyone who has just signed up for Extra Life. It's a compact little guide with great input from some of our most active and dedicated members. It can be printed as a one-sided full page, or front and back of a page to create two long-ways half sheet that can be folded in half for a quarter sheet size. Feel free to use it whenever you recruit! @DJThunderstix @LeaveIt2Beaver, feel free to review and offer suggestions. Special thanks to everyone who provided quotes! EL Players Guide - Print front&back for 2copies.pdf
  7. Here's a thread for recruiting events. Link to any upcoming cons or events you know that'll be good for recruiting people. Here are three we've been to before: HavenCon - April 28 - 30 Anime Austin - June 16 - 18 Staple - Dates TBA. This is being shifted to later in the year. And of course you have RTX. International Tabletop Day and International Sailor Moon Day are two others we could probably use. Anyone have other ideas?
  8. The Office of Student Life at Stark State College would like to extend an invitation for Extra Life to join us at the Stark State College Activities & Services Student Fair on Thursday, February 23, from 11:00 am-2:00 pm in Room M100 (Business & Entrepreneurial Center Atrium). New and returning students will be navigating through this fair to become educated on internal and external resources they can utilize to be successful college students. As in the past, we will have many different clubs/organizations and on campus service-oriented departments represented, as well as a number of community and outside service organizations. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! --Thank you Brittany for attending this event for us!
  9. I figured i might as well create a thread where people can post places or events where we might be able to recruit people. I'll start listing things later.

Cameron St Harrisburg, PA 17110 FEBRUARY 18th & 19th 2017 SATURDAY 9AM-10PM SUNDAY 9AM-5PM This year will be VERY different as we're going to be in the MAIN HALL (Macclay St entrance) with CMN in their mega booth. 12. I figured I would post free comic book day up here. It's a rather large event that is held at most comic book stores and could be great for recruitment.
  13. We had mentioned at the last meeting that free comic book day is coming up on May 7th. If you are interested in finding a store near you that participates, you can find it on their site here This should be a great opportunity to go out and recruit some new people. I know from past years that if you get to the stores right around open there has typically been a good immediate rush. If we have something to hand out to people or if you want to try recruiting people you shouldn't need to stay there very long. I'm going to try talking to off the wagon in Kent about maybe being able to put up a sign and talk to people about joining.

Holiday Matsuri 2016 is a festive holiday convention held every year in Orlando, FL! This year, the convention will be at the glorious Orlando World Center Marriot, from December 16-18! Last year, the Orlando Guild was invited to table at Holiday Matsuri, and we were even the benefactors of their benefit ball where we raised over $2,000! We are looking for Volunteers to help us staff the booth. If you are free, and would like to help, leave a comment below.
