  3. Introducing Myself

A bunch of friends and I just found out about this last year and we thought it was good idea. This is my second year doing extra life still trying to figure out how every thing works. My friends and I have decided we had a blast doing Extra Life last year that we want to help out this year. My moms friend introduced it to me and asked if I wanted to be on his team. We are a bit younger group about 10-16. We rose some money for a bunch of teens trying to help over $100. This year my friends and I are going to try and get more involved and try to meet our goal of $800. This year we hope we can be more organised. Last year we started at the end of October and lots of people couldn't come or help out all 24 hours or couldn't even come at all. This year starting really early to get a head start. I'm glad that Extra Life has found a way to raise money with interesting kids to help out as well and many others who like video gaming. I hope we have a great year!!
  4. Game Day with the Kids

We will be having our monthly Game Day with the kids on October 5th. As usual, it will be at the Children's Hospital, on the performance stage. Parking is free, in the South Garage, which is attached to the Children's Hospital. It will be from 2-4 PM. Come and game with us, and help put some fun back in the day of these children!
  5. Game Day with the Kids!

Nashville Gamers, we have exciting news! September 7th (and once a month after that) we will be having an on-site game day with the kids at the Children's Hospital. Our first date is September 7th! SIGN UP FOR GAME DAY HERE!!!!! Use the link above if you're able to come help! We have a group that will be coming to visit that day, who is potentially looking to sponsor our Guild and Extra-Life. They will have people on site, reviewing the event, and potentially sponsoring our guild! They could potentially help in two ways: First: There is a possibility they could give us a fairly sizeable financial contribution to our Extra-Life Fundraising. Second: If they like what they see, they may begin assisting with hosting our events! They have a great employee base that could potentially just us alongside with Extra-Life! We could definitely use the additional member base and participation! Let's make this September game day great, and do something great for the kids!
  6. Hey team! So this past Friday and Saturday night, the management staff at the Wynnsong Theater in Madison was more than gracious enough to allow us to set up an Extra-Life table in their lobby, for the release weekend of Suicide Squad! Rachel and I manned the post on Friday, and had a good turnout! Quite a few people were there, we caught the interest of several different groups of gamers, from all ages and walks of life! Many of them signed up using the Extra-Life app (SUPER easy to use), and we even had a few donations. Saturday, Shane and Addison held down the fort, and we had a couple more donations and some more people signed up. Overall, we got about $20 in donations, (every little bit helps!) and several people signed up to join Extra-Life! (I would guesstimate between 10-20, but I'll get the official numbers from Mark a little later this week!)
  7. So I just met with Desiree at Mythical Mountain about Superhero Day. We have an entire room within the shop to turn into an Extra Life lounge! Free range to decorate and come dressed as any kid friendly superhero (sorry guys no DeadPool cosplay this time around). It is an all day event, (April 28th) so we can hang out at early as we would like. The target window for the kids activities would be 3pm to 7pm. Volunteers would need to be at the shop by 2pm to set up. It is imperative for us to be able to commit to being on time for this, to help maintain a great partnership with this local business. We have agreed on these activities/have the space for: Marketing table Face Painting/temporary tattoos Set up Coloring pages station This will help keep the kids engaged while waiting for each station to come available for their turn. We will need confirmed volunteers for the entirety of the event, and one each broken up into the following time slots (2-5, 2-8, 5-8): 2pm-5pm (Bryan is good for this time slot, needing one more please) 2pm-8pm (Casper!) 3pm-? (Monty Keegan) 4pm-?(Nicole Zaunbrecher) 5pm-8pm (Matt Blocker) Anyone else available for any time in between is amazing and we would love to have you! From there we can assign superheroes to each station! Wednesday night prior, we will be setting up the decorations to make it less stressful day of. We can just show up to our stations and have fun

Learn the real science behind science fiction at our First Fridays events! Each month has a different theme, features free hands-on activities and culminates with a free 10pm screening of a classic science fiction move in the OMNIMAX® Theater. First Friday favorites like public telescope viewings, scifi trivia and special prices for OMNIMAX® films are a staple at every event. Tickets for the free 10pm show are available starting at 6pm on the evening of the First Friday event and are distributed on a first come, first served basis. First Friday activities such as our presentations, sci-fi trivia, 10pm sci-fi film, etc. are primarily designed for adults and recommended for audiences 16 years and older. Our public telescope viewings and free 7pm Planetarium show are recommended for all ages. - See more at: April's theme will be "It's All Fun & Games", and we will be there to offer games for visitors to play while we tell them about Extra Life.

Come and Join the Extra Life Pittsburgh Guild as we officially Kick off 2016 at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh! Come get involved as we plan on making Extra Life bigger than ever in the region and discuss plans to attend all sorts of fun events to spread the word about the best gaming charity around! Interested in doing even MORE for local kids? Let us know if you're interested in a leadership position, as each year at kickoff time, you can express your interest in taking on a guild leadership role to work along side the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation to uphold our mission of recruiting new Extra Lifers. If you think you might be interested in taking a core leadership role or in being a member of the newly established Social and Entertainment Committee, please send a PM to one of our current guild officers, @sighnoceros @slowmojoe or myself (@k8morosky) to learn how. Watch this space for additional meeting details, directions to our meeting space in the Plaza Building on the CHP campus, and instructions on how to take advantage of free parking in the hospital garage during the meeting. We'd love for you to join us as we celebrate the dawn of a new fundraising year with free food and drink! Bring a favorite tabletop game, and join in the fun after the meeting! Parking Info/Directions can be found here: The signs for the North Parking Garage are kind of small, but the entrances are near the "back" of the hospital, and usually have a sign that says "STAFF PARKING ONLY". That's the garage you want. Push the red button and tell the attendant you are there for the Extra Life Kickoff meeting. Once inside, follow the instructions at the above link to make your way to the meeting space. If you have any trouble, feel free to call Jim (@sighnoceros) at 814-558-7727.

  12. I kind of mentioned this offhand at the guild meeting but i'm looking for doing something with other Teams on game day. It might involve the losing team giving money to the winning team's page or just for bragging rites. Let me know if anyone else is interested and how big your team is. My group mostly plays on pc but I think between us we could get any console and we have 4 main people that will be playing at the moment.
  13. Hey Guildies, I just wanted to let you all know that I am hosting another gaming event down at Kirwan's Game Store in Catskill, NY. I know it's a drive for some of you but it will be worth it! So the Event is at Kirwan's Game Store in Catskill NY, and things will kick off at around 11AM an Saturday August 8th. Kait, Your president, your Vice President and Secretary have all vowed to be there. Bring your friends, bring your family, bring everyone. I am also doing a small preview of what our Extra Life event November 7th will look like. Just saying, you get to see some of that as well. Prizes and raffles and things. Anyway, I hope to see you all there! Cheers, Lucas Fox Guild President
