TOP INFO: *Looking for volunteers during First Fridays on June 2nd at Pawn and Pint *And for Maker Faire on June 24th/ 25th EVENTS: PLANET COMIC CON RECAP DISCUSSION Notes: -136 Sign ups achieved with $70 raised, sign ups were good, but we only raised about half of the donations we did last year. Perhaps additional training is required to ensure follow through. If someone does not want to sign up, offer a donation as an alternative. -Multiple requests for an additional Bucket, this time we need to Represent NINTENDO because they have made a comeback with style, Bucket will be coming soon. -Numbers of volunteers was good, those that could not make shifts did well to inform far ahead of time. However we may need to work on standing up to make contact with people passing by. Suggested we practice this at a smaller event to see how well it works. -Suggestion to work on getting more people signed up using tech rather than paper. Looking to start this as a project, find people willing to allow Extra Life the use of their tablets or other devices, can test this at smaller events first. -Split prizes into 3 winners this time, every person got one awesome model. 5. Hello everyone, the moment you have all been waiting for,the PCKC Volunteer Schedule. I apologize for the delay, but we had a few technical difficulties, and I wanted to give you all time to ensure you had a chance to see what Panels you wanted to see. DO NOT FORGET: Mandatory volunteer training will be held on Thursday the 27th at 7PM to 9PM(ish) for Extra Life Staff at the Convention Center, please contact Sean or Lora if you cannot make this. This training will show you where to check in and where our booth is. This is a PCKC requirement, not Extra Life. Also, if you are not signed up to work for a day, you will not be getting a wristband for PCKC that day. We have also been asked to help out with head counts in the game room every other hour. Every Odd hour(11AM, 1PM, 3PM, etc) someone will just need to swing by the game room to do a count of how many people are playing games. This is to collect information for future Planet Entertainment Zone events, and to know peak hours. I will have a sheet at the booth to help track this. We will show you where the game room is during orientation. THINGS TO REMEMBER: *PCKC is busy, parking is going to be difficult and unless you are showing up at 9:00AM you may be parking a few blocks away. Please factor parking, check in and walking time into your commute. *If you need to change your schedule, please contact Sean Albillar via Email, Facebook or respond to this post as soon as possible. *Badges/Wristbands are only issued for days you volunteer and will need to be picked up from the Volunteer check in every day. *We require that all staff at the booth have Extra Life shirts on, or a well done cosplay to bring attention to the booth. However, I ask that you bring your Extra Life shirt regardless. *Food vouchers will be available and distributed by Sean Albillar *No small prizes for the BINGO Cards turned in, only the Raffle Prizes, which are a month to loot Crate, a $25 gift card to SoPro and a few other things. 8. Elevator Speeches

Here is a bit more information, a few good talking points taking shamelessly from our physical guides. These are great responses to commonly asked questions after someone has listened to your elevator speech/basic pitch. Feel free to modify them to fit your own words or experiences as well. If you don't know the answer to a question, feel free to ask anyone else in the guild, we are all in this together! FAQ: “When is it?” Official game day for this year is November 4th, but the best thing is that if that date doesn’t work for you…you can move it. Or you can do 2 12-hour marathons…whatever works for you! “Where is it?” Most people game from the comfort of their own home. You can invite friends over, or whatever you want. A few game stores and LAN centers in the area will also be open on that day for you to go and game for a while if you don’t want to be stuck at home! “Do I have to play a certain game?” or “I don’t play video games” Nope! You can play whatever you want. Video games, tabletop RPGs, board games, mobile games, or you can even LARP for 24 hours! Everyone play some sort of game…so get your friends together and do it. “Do I have to stream it?” Nope…some people do, but not everyone! “What if I don’t make it the full 24 hours?” Not a problem…no one is policing you to yell at you if you don’t make it…do whatever you can. It’s all for the kids! “Does it cost anything?” Nope! Extra Life is free to do. You can, if you want, pay $15 for extra incentives, but it is not mandatory. “Do I have to raise a lot?” Or “I don’t have anyone to ask for money” Nope! On average, every 2 people raise $200…which goes a long way to helping local kids! You’d be surprised who will support you in your cause: coworkers, parents, friends, relatives, even strangers can find out if you put it out on social media! “Where does my money go?” Your money supports kids in Kansas City who are treated for all kinds of issues at KU Medical Center. “But I’m not from Kansas City.” There are 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals all over North America. You can find one near you and play for that hospital instead! “So how do I sign up?!” Fill out a form at this table. Or use this app on my phone. Or, sign up at home at extra-life.org!
  9. Extra Life Kansas City Guild Meeting Notes February 8th 2017 at Microsoft Store Current standings: 49 Sign ups and $617 raised. TOP INFO: Game Day is November 4th this year, and we have a goal of 800 sign ups(with a hope to hit 1,000) and plan on raising $70,000 dollars this year. This is based on previous growth and an average of previously raised funds. A spreadsheet was available at the meeting with our numbers for the last few years, for example last year we had 703 sign ups with $49K raised. The Guild Itself focuses on Recruitment and retention, but can be a good resource to find out ways others have raised funds over the years. Since we have a lot of events coming up, we have a few basic rules for Conventions just to cover with people, these are not all the rules, but good starting points. A more detailed explanation of Con Etiquette will be covered later: BASIC RULES FOR CONVENTIONS: 1) Show up for your shift, if you cannot make it, make contact with the Organizer at least the day before your shift.
